Adam Peaty

If you mean Adam Peaty, he's the best at 50m and 100m breaststroke. But someone will beat his times eventually - it is a sprint event. But let's not get carried away here. He's not the fastest swimmer ever. He only competes over short courses. Breaststroke is the slowest swimming style and both men and women swim faster in freestyle, backstroke and butterfly.

But he is the best in the business at his event.
And thats what he does. The best Brit ever dominating one event in world sport. No question.

And he competes over long courses not just short courses. A short course is a 25m pool and a long course is a 50m pool

Steve Redgrave. 20 years at the top (y)
Steve Redgrave lost a few events in world and European championships. He also didn't have the fastest times. He was just supreme at Olympic games. Peaty is unbeaten, the fastest ever and doninates with ease.

Watched Peaty since commonwealth games Glasgow- Brilliant athlete, especially in swimming where new names come through all the time. You're right about Daley as well though pleased 4 him as well.

Yes, you are right. But Peaty doesn't compete in longer events - like 200 metres - and not in other strokes. David Wilkie won events at 100m and 200m, in breaststroke and medley. You can't be the 'best Brit' unless you are a bit more versatile surely?

Ok but we weren’t talking about versatility. It’s about one event domination.
