Adam Peaty

He's a great competitor and talent. I think he had to retain Olympic gold to go down in the top eschelons of British sport.

I did used to compete in the same events 20 odd years ago. I think it's very had to judge the speed on tv, and some make the mistake of thinking they're looking at a pool the same size as their local, when actually it's twice the length.

I enjoy swimming but I'm completely hopeless at it. I can just about manage back to back lengths of a 22 metre pool, so really appreciate those with serious ability!

If the Olympics happen Peaty must be nailed on for 50 and 100m gold.

They don't do the 50m breaststroke at the Olympics, do they?
 
I don't think he swims 200m.

In athletics, you might get a guy who runs 100m and 200m, or who runs 200m and 400m, but no one runs all 3. While some swimmers have done, and won, both 100m and 200m, its rare in either sport for someone to do all 3.
 
I couldn’t swim as fast with an outboard motor strapped to my feet. He is an incredible sportsman, a phenomenon, he must be so dedicated and hard working to achieve these times. Doesn’t he hold something like the top 20 fastest times on record? Truly amazing
 
My daughter has been in a swimming club for years and competes at county level and Peaty swims 100 Breast around 7 seconds faster than she can swim 100 free......she is only 14 though!

Pretty impressive, though I have to say breaststroke is the slowest of the 4 strokes as it submerges more of the body in the water than other strokes, leading to greater resistance. WR for 100m freestyle is 10 seconds faster that breaststroke
