Adam Clayton improved the Boro team in 2014 and made us much meaner and he's a being a very good employee and I would like to thank him. When he came we held possession more which gave the opposition less opportunities. He improved more in the promotion season and even in the Premiership, one of our better players, but that was his peak for me. He is a very good destructive midfielder and sound in possession. Still can do a job in the Championship, but not like he did in 2016. I would put McNair and Howson a bit ahead of him in 2020.

Sometimes its best for both parties to start a fresh. We also have to look at the balance of our small squad. McNair and Howson are defensive midfielders and possibly Saville, while we only have one central defender and possibly only one orthodox full back. Clayton's former wages need to spent in defence at present for me.

The thing that does not quite add up in what happened on Wednesday evening with AC's tweet from an aircraft. is the fact that NW said on Tuesday he was going to have a chat with him about playing on Wednesday. Lets say a decision was made on Tuesday lunchtime, thats not much time to book a flight, get to the airport and be up and flying - all in 30 hours during Covid-19 conditions.

Suggests to me a decision was made before Tuesday by someone or is the photograph an old one or tampered with one?

Ref: a contract for AC with a promoted Div 1 club - I think this is realistic, but not on his old Boro contract wage, more like 66% less.
