A19 closed both directions just south of Osmotherley

Accident around 4:15pm. We were stuck in the stationary traffic, but managed to get off and home, through Northallerton.
Hope nobody was hurt, but closing both carriage ways like that doesn’t bode well.

Went past that on the opposite side not long after it happened. Looked like a HGV had collided with a couple of cars. One was turned facing across the lanes against the front of the HGV. Didn’t seem to be any injuries as non-police walking about so I assumed the drivers.

When we passed the fire bobbies had the roof chopped off so looked worse than it probably was but there was a sizeable chunk of traffic stuck behind it…

That's really awful. We were only delayed coming back from Leeds Bradford airport - nothing to complain about at all really!

Hope they recover fully ASAP.
