a honest question

i agree the tories are an evil breed
Evil is a rather exaggerated word,The Thatcherite ones who have no life skills or experience are useless because of that but it's the same with labour. They all follow a university/intern/ MP route into politics. The politicians of old who came through the pre war depression, war experiences and post war building of Britain of whatever party were the finest. It's been a decline ever since.

Over the last 40 odd years, I have seen some corrupt UK politicians, I have also seen greedy ones, incompetent ones, vile and nasty ones, disingenuous ones and flat out liars. Never seen all of these characteristics at the same time until this government was elected. Any one who voted for Brexit and Tory, when you see people you care about wait years for an operation, lose jobs and are sanctioned on benefits, see homelessness increase massively with people suffering with no support structures in place and see our standing in the world diminished, please don't blame the Tory Government...they were always self-interested scum...take a look in the mirror because it is you that is to blame.

In 2019 people were scared into voting Tory given the alternative -I dont agree with that but I understand why people felt like that, plus a lot of people fell for Boris's boosterism and positive thinking bull

The idea that 'Brexit will be ok if you give it long enough' is an utterly absurd statement! We are suffering the consequences to our economy right now in terms of loss of trade - but oh yeah lets give it 50 years and it will be all fine. This sort of utter guff is only spouted by people who have a big issue with ever admitting they might be wrong about anything. Brexit has and will be a clusterf*** for our country

I have never voted anything but Labour so in honesty I don't have to answer.

But in honesty was Corbyn, who I voted for a Tory stooge, a Trojen horse put there by a middle class metropolitan elite.

If you are honest can you see why decent working class people did not vote for him, I can. Photos of him with say Hamas, Gerry Adams, his comments on the military, doubting Russian involvement in poisoning in an English Town, that's without his zero policy on Little Tory's reason to wake up in the morning, people thought he was a prat.

We had just gone through 10 years of austerity, the people being shat on, Tory Leader after Tory leader, and he lost Twice, utterly unforgivable.

What's crazy is that the manifesto was a good one, economically sound, progressive on nationalisation and would have made the poor better off.

He never had it.

But the Tories are utterly inept but crucially, they lie through their back teeth to retain power with the willing backing of the written press and people fall for it
10 years of austerity and running down the police, nhs, education & benefits system to breaking point and they spin it as ‘really responsible fiscal governance’ utter lies and deceit to the point where I believe they are inherently evil
Unpatriotic isn’t even close
Heaping misery on millions
10 years of austerity and running down the police, nhs, education & benefits system to breaking point -no money
covid - money tree found
energy crisis -no money.

Its a F***ing sham, Covid exposed the truth, thats its a policy choice not a necessity to put millions of people into poverty

I expect there will large scale dissent and marches against fuel poverty shortly it hasnt kicked home yet by winter the Tories will be unelectable. Rishi is no longer the saviour but a multimillionare who has chosen not to help the poorest, the disabled, and the most vulnerable in society. The disabled child whos parents cant afford the electricity to power life saving equipment at home, whilst rishi swamped in personal wealth tells them theres no money thats the reality. I wouldnt put it passed boris for insisting on a hard line economics to destroy the Prime ministerial prospects of rishi sunak once and for all. Whats clear now is Rishi is toast with the public, please god lets hope the conservative party is as well.

i disagree thatcher was evil, pure and simple she would do anything to trample dissent or opposition regardless of the societal consequences.

I agree with what you say, where is the evidence of this? the disabled child whos parents cant afford the electricity to power life saving equipment at home,

Lets get it up on a poster. Attack the evil terwaats.

Norfolk, can I ask what you think the average Labour prospective MP is actually " in it for", how do they expect to benefit for " themselves". Its certainly expected that every Tory MP will have 2nd income as well as sold his soul to some vested commercial interest.

The Tory Party are naturally Venal, its virtually written into their constitution.
They are “the devil take the hindmost” Party
It was founded by the landowning elite and is still ran by them.
Self interest and greed is seen as a desired characteristic By most of their MPs
To liken them to the Labour Party is ridiculous.

Ofcourse Labour will have some self interested individuals ( unfortunately more so at a local level), some in it for self aggrandisement but the essential reason for existence for the average Party member is one of social fairness and equality of hope.

“They are all the same“is a lazy and ignorant thing to say.

I have a general mistrust of anyone that wants to be a politician. Douglas Adams summed it up:

It is a well-known fact that those people who must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it... anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.

There are some genuine politicians but I don't believe the majority are. I get the impression a majority of them just choose the party that gives them the best chance of furthering their career. I voted Labour under Corbyn but I was absolutely disgusted by the MPs in the party that did everything they could to undermine and overthrow him after he had been voted in. They couldn't accept that some Labour voters, even the majority, don't want the aim to just be in power but actually want to make a difference to people's lives. That showed me that the majority of them aren't interested in the people that they are governing, they are in it for themselves. It's just a game to them. They get paid whether they are in power or not. Keep the gravy train rolling, claim the expenses, get your cushy seats on boards when you're done.

Another occasion was when neither Labour or Lib Dems would agree to an alliance to prevent Brexit happening because they didn't want the other to be in power, even temporarily. Instead of achieving what they say they wanted they put their own principles above those of the people they claimed to be trying to protect. And don't get me started on the way MPs all agreed (except for the SNP) to allow the EU referendum to take place and then as soon as the vote went the way they didn't want to they tried to reverse it. Whether it was the right decision or not, the people made it. How we exited, not whether we should was the only thing that should have been debated once the result was announced.

The 2 party system is the root of all the problems. It is just a game to win and most of them know that no matter how inept they are they will be kept around forever, especially if they are in a safe seat. There is just no genuine accountability. I vote Labour because they are the least bad option. A PR system means I would be able to choose a party that represented my views instead of just the best option to stop the Tories in my constituency.

One thing to be said for the Tories. They don't even pretend to be anything but Tory.

What you see is what you get
You've made your bed, you better lie in it
You choose your leaders and place your trust
As their lies wash you down and their promises rust
You'll see kidney machines replaced by rockets and guns
And the public wants what the public gets
But I don't get what this society wants
