7 police officers with fire arms

'welcome to the gun show' 😂

I can't say this annoys me anymore than an unarmed police officer coming into the gym. The guns just part of his / hers equipment and doesn't escolate anything. I really couldn't see them locking them in a car.

The fact any officer is going into a gym looking to fine folk is a bigger issue. I've seen countless other covid rule breakers doing far worse than going for a workout (I didn't see anyone fined in Liverpool on Tuesday night whilst dancing in the streets).

The fella who owns the gym in question has set up a go fund me page to help with legal costs.

Original target was £10,000. It's raised £36,000 in two days 😮

Seems the gym goers of Liverpool don't support the lockdowns either, 2,208 of them so far.

@KingOfTheTribes so let me get this straight, according to you this man is an idiot because he's fighting to keep his business open, staff employed, people healthy and fit and to keep putting food on his table and keep a roof over his head?
Take it you've either got a cushy public sector job or you are retired?

Fair shout - difficult to be unequivocal from the clip.
The guy in the gym, however, does refer to 7 armed officers
He does, but I can only see Tasers and, whilst it's difficult to say absolutely, it doesn't appear to me they have any conventional firearms.

Yeah - agree

In other news, by the way, The Met have decided no action will be taken against Margaret Ferrier - the SNP MP who went on her Covid tour.
Not sure of the law on that - but the outcome stinks

Dear Steve,
We need your support.
The Prime Minister this week announced that health and fitness clubs would remain open under the new baseline measures for areas at Tier 3 - Very High Local Covid Alert.
However new legislation now contradicts this, meaning a Tier 3 - Very High Local Covid Alert, will see an automatic closure of all health and fitness clubs, along with sexual entertainment venues, hostess bars and adult gaming centres. Clearly we disagree with being categorised with such venues
We believe that’s not right for several reasons, most of all because of the physical and mental wellbeing benefits of staying active, which far outweigh the risks.

  • Data shows that incidents of Covid-19 cases throughout the health and fitness sector continue to remain very low, at just 0.72 per 100,000 visits, with not a single known in-club transmission
  • There have been 34 million visits to health and fitness clubs across the country, so that’s just 245 cases in total since all clubs reopened in July 2020
  • The Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) latest advice is that closing gyms can do more harm than good
  • Liverpool’s Mayor Joe Anderson tweeted this week “Gyms are safer than supermarkets, more COVID-19 transmissions come from our schools and retail than gyms”
  • Tighter restrictions in Northern Ireland, Netherlands and Scotland have all been accompanied by decisions to keep gyms open
  • 96% of members tell us they are happy with the social distancing and hygiene standards in our clubs and feel that keeping their club open plays an important role in their mental wellbeing
We appreciate that local authorities may wish to make additional interventions, and some people won’t wish to visit gyms based on their personal circumstances. However we feel a blanket closure is not the right approach.

If you feel the same, join us and more than 150,000 other signatures online today.

Received the above today which explains the situation, or not, PM announced one thing, then they say it’s another. Nothing new there, but in the midst of such confusion it makes 7 coppers trying to lay their version of the law down look very heavy handed.

190,000 signatures now so parliament forced to debate.

I think he's perhaps one of a seemingly growing number of people who are so exasperated and frustrated by the whole situation, not helped by the govt (re: Cummings disobeying rules for example, even though it was months ago), that they are just going to do their own thing. I'm not for a moment suggesting that is the correct thing to do, for what it's worth i do not think this will help, but people are sick as a chip and just want to be able to run a business and keep it afloat before their bank manager calls time and they're out of work
Of course we all want some semblence of normality, but where will all end if we don’t abide by the rules.
Of course there will be lapses here and there, but if you continually flout the rules after being visited by police on a few different occasions........well !!!

But looking at what I posted above, maybe he just didn’t know as it isn’t clear.

As we all know, the rules only apply to some people and not others.

It’s not about whether they support the lockdowns or not though. At the minute there is no other alternative. If many more people had adhered to the initial national lockdown then we’d now be in a much better place as a country.

Like Italy, Germany and France are now yeah?

Anyways the man is trying to save his business AND rival's businesses and others who have donated, some, big sums, agree with him. Fair play.

People can agree with him and give him money, but he’s still wrong regardless of the heavy handed police visit. If everyone behaved like that we’d all have to endure this shït for a whole lot longer.

Lockdowns are utterly futile. We have never approached respiratory pandemics in this way before. What's the agenda?

Liverpool need to push back and get on with things. London is flat yet that lunatic Hancock AND Sadiq Kahn want increased measures. No justification whatsover. Pure fear and population control.

Lockdowns worked for the Spanish Flu. Philadelphia didn't and was one of the worst hit cities.
