5 Subs to be used

It was actually FIFA that gave the green light to this because of the danger of injuries. It's what they're doing in Germany.
Makes you wonder why they are allowing it to go ahead when there's that danger. Oh wait a minute, the money, of course.

Yes, Schalke became the first team to use five subs a few weeks ago. I hope it doesn't become a permanent thing though.

Money is the main thing in the Prem, in fact it's probably the only thing.
Liverpool have virtually won the league and it matters not who goes down.
Money, money, money, money. Joel Grey was correct.

Is there really a danger of injuries though? The players will probably still be way fitter than they were years ago and they only had one sub then. A game with no crowd is bad enough, but a second half with a possible 10 substitutions too?

A real danger, because they have been out of match action for so long and without a proper 'pre-season'. I'm completely with you on the rest of it. A farce.

with so little 'pre-season' I'd have thought even more subs would be a better idea
But does it not fundamentally change the laws of the game during a season.

We could be in a situation whereby a team gets relegated because in the season pre Covid they had to play with 10 men as they had used all subs and a player got injured and conceded and a team stays up because they used a fourth or fifth sub and he scored a winner/equaliser🤔

Mid way through second half a team is one goal up.
Cue 5 defensive subs to run on to secure the game.
Will be like an American football special play team ;)

Holland pretty much did this by bringing Tim krull on for penalties but you’re right this could open a huge gap between the mega squads and the rest.

Can see it already Boro losing one nil at Wednesday needing a point to stay up...Woodgate has Gestede, Britt, Fletcher, Nmecha, O'Neil, Roberts, Walker, Tavernier, Wing, Ayala and Pears on, all up for a corner!

no real issue with it, though maybe only 1 sub allowed in last 10 mins to stop the possible gamesmanship

However, to avoid disruption to the game, each team will only have three opportunities to make substitutions; substitutions may also be made at half-time.
