.

We did for our honeymoon to Thailand/ Cambodia. Was more expensive than how I'd normally organise a trip but was seamless.

Went in to the store, planned every step with the advisor and it was exactly as planned.

Was an amazing, hassle and worry free trip.

Yes i have used them
Very good at booking a bespoke round the world trip for me as a solo traveller but it was about 15 years ago so no recent experience. I just walked into their office in Cambridge one Saturday and did it in person - no idea if you can do that now

Exactly how we did it. In Cambridge in fact too. Maybe 7 years back mind.

Same here, though 20ish years ago, and through London office. Turned out the RTW ticket I'd bought was even more flexible than they'd told me.

Yes, used them for a trip to Sri Lanka with a driver to see some of the less visited areas. They were excellent once we told the driver to stop taking us to his mates’ shops as we weren’t not interested.
Then looked at taking the in-laws to California. They seemed very expensive. We found better hotels at 2/3 the price, so booked independently.

I did same, booked from their place in Newcastle in 2005ish. Was very handy because I don't think all travel booking was 100% available online at the time, or I was not that wised up on it back then.

I'd probably do it all myself these days. Reckon you'd be able to save quite a lot if you invested some research time and effort

Can’t disagree. I did three long haul month long trips in the space of four years - all
involving Australia- and trailfinders booked the first one. Second one booked through another agent as I wanted to do a five day road trip they were offering. By the time I got to the third trip I was confident enough to book everything myself.

Booked our honeymoon to South Africa and Mauritius with them and also a New York trip for the Mrs’ 30th. Can’t fault them really, everything went as planned. Would happily use them again if they were able to offer the cheapest deal.

Ah brings back some memories of Trailfinders New Oxford St London organising my first ever trip to NZ and Thailand in 1988 with my dad to go out and visit family. They were excellent then. As independent agents go you can’t really beat them and pride themselves in training the staff well.

Founded by an ex SAS officer who is still involved 50 years later!

I used them in 1996 when the internet wasn't really available. It's difficult now to imagine how things were done then but they sorted me out fine with some long-distance travel. By all accounts they are still very good. However - and I'm just pointing this out as a fact and not trying to start an argument - they have a long history of being a big donor to the Conservative party including a hefty chunk just prior to the last general election.

“light the blue touch paper and retire”

We used them 5 years ago for a trip across Canada, all arranged over a few telephone appointments we didn't need to visit a shop. They probably aren't the cheapest but made it loads easier. Just discussed budget, preferences and destinations and they put together a whole itinerary.

Also not sure if they get some inside gen on forthcoming sales as they advised us of a couple of tweaks to our iternary to save us money. One was moving the Rocky Mountaineer section by a few days to take advantage of a discount offer. The other was a sale later on in the trip on Fairmont hotels which allowed us to stay in some better situated hotels than we were looking at originally. When I looked on websites directly at the time I couldn't see the hotel offer advertised.

Would 100% use them again as the customer service was excellent. Even checking afterwards how the trip went for feedback and potentially helping them with better meeting the needs of future customers (asking for more information about what a couple of hotels were like).

We’ve booked a fair few trips various places ourselves with little/no trouble, but last year we had a problem with a flight cancellation less than 2 weeks before our holiday that caused all manner of problems - had to cancel different hotels, still trying to get money back for the flights.

Just wondering if the premium is worth doing given it provides additional safeguards if something does go wrong….
Traditional travel agents have made a come back since COVID. Booking your own is fine until something goes wrong, changes are needed etc. They shouldn't be more expensive either, in fact they have access to deals and incentives from the travel operators, plus they can add little extras that make travel easier. We always try to help with parking or priority security etc.

Tried to use them last year - really hard because they are largely phone bsed these days.
Left it and used my local travel agent
