44.5 million for Gibbs White

Is what Forest are paying to Wolves. An incredible amount of money for a player who has shone at championship level but certainly never tore up. Highly rated yes, does he improve Forest? Yes. But that fee is extortionate and I’m not sure he will prove value for money. FairPlay to Wolves for demanding such a fee.

Dread to think what we will have to pay for Giles when we get promoted 😉

He's definitely a promising player, but like you say hasn't done it in the prem before and a gamble from Forest even for the initial outlay of 34 odd million. One thing you can't accuse Forest of is 'not dying wondering'!

Mental spending and sheer number of signings.

I don't actually having anything against Forest, and their manager is a good despite his "classy man" comments, so I don't actually mind if they stay up, but it seems a huge gamble to bring in quite so many players and spend quite so much on your first season.

This is their 16th signing, and they have more to come.

I don't know why Spence didn't sign for Forest if they were interested (we probably would have got a bigger fee too). He would have definitely started, whereas at Spurs, it seems he has to do a lot to convince Conte he is good enough for even the bench at the moment.

Well they had loan players disappearing and others not up to the top level. They're having a go like we used to.

I heard Eddie Howe on the news the other day saying that despite the money they had, Newcastle simply couldn't just spend spend spend because of FFP restrictions. How come it doesn't seem to bother Forest?

If they go down they could be in bother
It's a gamble, but I think they are riding the crest of a wave. First time up in 20 odd years, so giving it a good go. If the worst happens, and they get relegated, they will have an excellent championship squad and likely come straight back up. If they do, they won't need to spend loads of money and need lots of players. I think it is a gamble worth taking.

I think the harshest punishments are from Uefa so Howe will be complaining that he can't compete with City etc. Pointless spending so much to qualify for Europe if you're not allowed in.

You're allowed to make a £105m loss over 3 seasons. Forest will get £100m for being in the PL this season so plenty of room.
