It's never been tested. If it was possible it would only cover federal crimes, which apparently he would have admit to in order to pardon himself. But he would lie about it anyway. :)
All this self pardon business was discussed in a tv interview with some Republican lawyer. It sounded a bit hypothetical. Seems like we're going down the rabbit hole.

Here's a list of 30 investigations into Trump that were ongoing in May 2019. Some of these were congressional investigations which he wouldn't be subject to arrest over, but 18 of them were criminal investigations at either the federal or local level.

As far as I know, nearly all of these criminal investigations are still ongoing, many were in abeyance due to his being president but once he's out of office they'll be free to proceed with them.

I’m in the camp where I don’t really care about what happens in the USA, I think it makes little difference to the UK but putting the marginal seats to one side and any ‘false‘ votes for either Biden or Trump (because this sort of thing works both ways don’t forget), the last time I looked the overall popular vote gap was 4 to 5 million? I can’t see how Trump can legitimately do anything other than concede if he is to properly respect democracy.

He hasn't shown respect to African countries, black people, women, his own daughter, disabled people, opposition, GOPs that aren't supportive of him, laws, contractors and suppliers, New Jersey Gaming Laws, common decency, the voting public, climate scientists, previous presidents, defeated opponents in race for GOP nomination, Hillary, mexican children, innocent black people, peaceful protestors, his first wife, his second wife, his third wife, his extra-marital sexual partners, the separation of the pillars of the US systems of governance, truth, justice, decency and that's just scratching the surface. This is F***ing DANGEROUS and nobody cares, cant any of you see it!!?? Instead of even trying to question wether there are fraudulent results, the networks and journalists just immediately laugh it off and say its wrong. How do they know?? There are enough anomalies in the publicly available information for it to be HIGHLY plausible.

With a Biden win america is on the edge of a very dangerous world, ask yourself why the Yen tanked when it looked like Trump was going to win. A vote for Biden is a vote for China, thankfully it will all be exposed and Trump will remain president, enjoy your celebrations whilst it lasts. I dont expect anyone to agree with my post on here, youre all already gone, I just hope it makes one or 2 more people question whats actually going on instead of what youre being TOLD is going on. Oh and its funny now that Biden has 'won' there has already been a couple of articles about how the latest covid numbers may have been exaggerated. If Biden does somehow take the whitehouse you will know what im talking about has merit when Covid talk starts drying up and disappears. Remember this post if that happens.

Yeah you have to wonder about people who decide to hang on the words of such a person. Anyone who doesn't at least go: "hang on, he said??" at least once to Trump needs to learn about rational thought.
