4 more years of Trump

I would suggest he knows he has actually lost (just) once postal ballots are counted in the 3 key states. Hence the Supreme Court is required by him

From the American point of view I am not bothered who wins, but if it is going to be better from the UK trading prospects if Trump retains the Presidency, then bring it on.

How could the polls be so wrong? Even the bookies appear to have been way off the mark.

The person who placed a £5m bet obviously "knew something"

Shy Trump voters abound.
Bearing in mind I've not been in long from my night-shift so I haven't scoured the Web, but according to some charts on the Beeb it looks like Trump is very popular with white men and the elderly and that the economy outweighs the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic. Claims that there isn't an underlying white supremacy issue don't really stand up to scrutiny and I'd hazard a guess that retaining as much money as possible is the biggest hurdle to even mildly socialist policies being sellable to the US electorate.

Funnily enough, when I read about that bet I feared the worst. It mentioned in the article that he had friends high up in the Republican party, and had spoken with them before placing the bet. (So presumably they somehow knew that it was closer than the polls were suggesting). Either way, I figured that folk don't usually chuck that much money around for nothing.

(I think the article said that it was an ex-British banker placing the bet (but maybe I got that bit wrong)).

Why does anyone listen to polls. They're frequently wrong. If you asked 100 people whether they had spent more time masturbating than reading during lockdown not a single one would admit to a six month wankfest.
Although to be fair.... given how quick it can be to knock one out.... but how long it can take to read a few chapters of a book, I expect most people probably did spend a lot more time reading!

I didn't know that but suspected that it might be the case. Surprised that the bookies got it so wrong (Even though Biden might still win). The MSM seem shell shocked this morning!

Yeah. I think this is more or less what I read:

"A mystery British businessman has staked $5 million (£3.9million) on Donald Trump being re-elected as US President, it has been claimed. The unnamed offshore ex-banker reportedly put down what is believed to be the biggest ever political wager at a private bookies on the island of Curacao in the Caribbean.

He is said to have consulted with insiders on the Republican's campaign and would win almost $15 million (£11.5m) if Democrat Joe Biden is defeated on Tuesday".
