31 shootings and 3 dead in Chicago

To be fair, that could be pretty much ANY weekend here. As far as the current situation goes, all protests were peaceful, no riots or looting and this evening is the first night without curfew since last Sunday.

Actually that is below average, but still shocking. Sadly I would have been there last week on holiday but for covid. Never mind heres to next year.

Give me a shout when you finally get here if you want a Boro guide! And don't let the shooting stats scare you, I've been here for 18 months and never even seen a gun in public (except on police), never mind heard gunfire or seen a shooting. Most gun crime is in suburbs to the south or west of the city (and those shootings that happen downtown tend to be gang/drug related and in the small hours on a weekend).

Take him up on the offer. You don't want to drift into West Englewood by mistake.

Still there were only 510 murders last year. That's the third year in a row murders have fallen. Things are looking up!

Thanks for the offer, I do appreciate it. I have been to Chicago many times before for Bluesfest but I have seen mainly the tourist places. I love the place but admit that I only go as far south as Chinatown on an evening out. Usually to Reggies - fantastic shows and great wings. North side is safer than here and even the wife admits she is unafraid of walking round the Loop area at night. Really missed a night at Smokedaddys this year - great beer, ribs and music thrown in. Maybe meet for a beer next year if some kind of normality returns.

Sounds like you should be showing me round tbh! A beer sounds good!
