3 goals conceded in 3 consecutive away games

We've conceded in all but 1 of our 10 away matches, and we were facing 10 men for half of that clean sheet.

We've conceded 2 or more in 7 of them.

It's very concerning, however you cut it.

Even when we were looking pretty awesome, last year, the defence was still inclined to be iffy. It does not appear to be a Carrick strength. Maybe the answer is to get a quality defensive coach. Maybe the truth is that Jono Woodgate is not one

Or it's a result of Carrick's tactics, we're being punished for mistakes and it will continue while we play as we do but it's a gamble worth taking as it proved last season.

Defending is our Achilles heel - we have defensively weak full backs and we play a lot of suicidal passes around our back line, like the one Barlaser did for their first goal

If we didn’t have so many bloody injuries I would be concerned.

We’re playing a CB who hasn’t played in over a year, a young lad who who has had to play across the entire back line and a RB who has also barely played recently.
Not concerned at all me. Happy with the position right now, 2 home games coming up and 3 points from the play offs with a lot of football upcoming and a quarter final of the cup to look forward too. Just need the injuries to stop and get some lads back

Still think we could sneak a play off spot. Leeds have won seven on the trot at home and have a much bigger budget. Still going to be exciting season and the League Cup has our name on it!

And a left back who has played less than half a dozen games in the championship.

Play-Offs still very much on.

Compared to last year after 19 games:
6 more points
Better GD
7 more goals scored
4 more conceded

If we are still in touch after Christmas I think we'll go on another storming run with 2 points per game average.

It clearly needs to stop. Yet I don't see any reason as to why it will. We've been like this for most of Carricks time.

I don't see a load of clean sheets anytime soon. It's still pretty 'exciting' to watch. We are superb going forward despite losing the big guns from last season.

It does make for entertaining stuff.

That said we shouldn't be regularly scoring 2s away from home and leaving pointless. Just need to find some kinda ballance. Yet clearly the sheer amount of injuries isn't helping.

I thought our best defensive display this season was against Leicester.
We were solid.
Carrick and co. have a big job on their hands here and I`m 110% certain they have more than a dozen targets for the January window - leaving room for those we dont get, for whatever reason.
We might have to use some of our youngsters - one I`ve mentioned before and will mention again is Jack Hannah. Hes really mature for his age, has a cool head and is really solid. Watched him in U21`s and hes a stand out player. As for the rest, only Carrick and the coaches know which non-regulars might get on the bench.
We dont need to panic.
Its times like this when the strong step forward and take the situation by the balls.
