If he has to go back to Russia that might be sensible. I was actually surprised at the statement donating to help people in Ukraine.
I would prefer to see us seizing these assets rather allowing them to be offloaded but that's Johnson's cabal

our governments [US/EU/UK] have all been complicit in where we are with these so-called Oligarchs. We've allowed them to fester and destroy communities by hiking up property costs and put their own people in positions of power or leverage to cover their dealings.

From what I have read he wouldn’t receive any of the proceeds anyways as he is a sanctioned person. Perhaps explain the ‘charitable’ donation.

I have heard it said that Putin may well be the richest man in the world and that it is quite possible that his wealth is distributed amongst the oligarchs who are loyal to him. This seems to be why the US are looking to begin seizing their assets rather than just freezing them.

I had to smile tonight when Shearer commented on Abramovich's decision to sell Chelsea saying that he hasn't condemned the annexation of Ukraine by Putin. It's a bit hypocritical of Shearer when he is the ambassador for a club owned by the Saudi royalty and elite, which is a country with one of the worst human rights records in the world buts that's okay.
