20 years ago today

I feel old. 20 years ago? Jesus.

Thanks to this came the European adventures - some of the best days of my life.

I was physically drained after the 2 nd going in. I was so happy but could hardly stand up.
All I remember of the 2nd half was Ugo being immense and the joy at the final whistle.

We stayed in a Premier Inn at Swindon the night before, the place was rammed with Boro fans, what a great night.
On the day of the game, my brother in law ended up with a spare ticket as someone from work had dropped out. He saw a young lad outside, distraught that he had lost his ticket, so the BiL gave him the spare, what luck.
Driving home was the closest I’ve ever been to falling asleep at the wheel, was absolutely exhausted by the days events.
Just wish my dad could’ve been by my side, he was coming to terms with losing my mam and decided not to travel.

I stayed the night before at a mate’s house near Mountain Ash in the valley’s.
I met family and friends the next day in Cardiff (four of which are sadly no longer with us). It was a magical day, just seeing the excitement of all the fans, it was brilliant. The cheers, the tears and the celebrations. I just hope that I’ll get the chance to experience it, at least one more time.

My seat on the day ( I accidentally snapped it jumping up and down at the final whistle). The roof down made it quite a unique atmosphere. The second half seemed to last forever.

I panicked when I found out how few trains were leaving Paddington in the morning. They told me that there would be a queuing system set up for fans who turned up early. Was there b***ks. Turned up at 5 am. Still managed to get on the first train, standing Cracking atmosphere in Cardiff. Don't think I saw a single Bolton fan.

Yes where did they come from as there weren’t any in the city before kick off were there and we wandered all over Cardiff.

It was weird

queued overnight for 18 hours or so to get about 10m away from north stand ticket office for them to announce sold out. Had the right amount of stubs etc to. Hotel was already booked in Bristol so ended up watching the match in a Wetherspoons outside of the ground. Plenty of touts with tickets for Bolton end but not the Boro 😭.
Wetherspoons didn't have TVs then. Must have been somewhere else.

I had a season ticket so was fine but queued up for my old man who had been to all the earlier rounds. I sent my stubs to someone on this message board, can’t remember who.

Think I got there about 3amish thinking it would be fine and got no where near!

I remember it was bloody freezing and they were letting people snap up a lot of tickets each meaning loads towards the back of the queue were paying those at the front to get theirs.

He ended up getting a ticket from a tout in the end.
