I think Callow can come across as a bit shouty, but when you listen to him being interviewed or in discussion in his more quiet moments, he does have a very deep, mellifluous timbre to his voice. All about opinions I suppose.I can't see that, he's just an egomaniacal shoutist, so I'll offer Roger Allam instead.
Sadly I've seen him reduce his company manager, a lovely ex headmistress, to tears over the fact he couldn't sustain his breath on stage. One of the least pleasant people I've worked with. I have to agree, Roger Allam is a great choice mind.
