YepFrom Saltburn I think?
Home assistant link me up.
How do I start with this?
Halifax, it's the town he mentioned most. The family moved to Saltburn and Redcar was mentioned but I was on the school run so it wasn't easy to listenFrom Saltburn I think?
That sounds like high use, we're on like 500kW a month and that's with an EV and a hybrid which is charged every night. Although, saying that, I don't do many miles. To my mind (although I have some concern about battery deg) my ideal would be about 20kWh of battery (about my normal daily usage) charged overnight and run the house during the day
Home Assistant
Open source home automation that puts local control and privacy first. Powered by a worldwide community of tinkerers and DIY enthusiasts. Perfect to run on a Raspberry Pi or a local server.www.home-assistant.io
HA is like a platform with various integrations so you might have hue, Alexa etc and those things continue on their own but also integrate with home assistant
You generally want it running on something with 24/7 uptime like a nas or a pi device

You might not need the full 20kW even if you did that as the afternoon rate is pretty similar to the overnight rate. There are only a couple if times which are bad, 0700-0900 and 1600-2000.
Obviously if you have an EV and that's contributing to the 20kW a day, then you can remove that from the equation.
I wouldn't be too concerned about degradation, it probably won't be more than 2% per year.
Even in the Tesla's they're only losing 12% after 200,000 miles, which is unreal.
I've not looked into that yet, sounds right up my street, but I can't take on any more hobbies yet, I'm maxed out lol.
He might be right.Martin Lewis on Radio 5 is saying a fixed is the way forward as the market is so volatile
He usually gives advice based on the moment. It's well intended, but look at the previous advice he gave for a long time about fixes when people could have locked in a lot earlier. He might be right.
Then again he might be wrong.
Is there a site that shows the daily rates for electricity and gas on this tracker? I can't seem to find anything on Octopus.
