🐙Cut your energy bills nearly in half with Octopus Tracker

That would be good, I have friends who would like to join so be good to know more please
On holiday for next 3 nights but a quick glance in mse suggests it's an approx 11% rise so still a good saving vs price cap, but not as attractive as for earlier adopters.

The worst part is it's a rolling 12 month deal so whatever the new prices are in a year, you accept those

Hopefully Octo keep us all on these historic rates

Here is an example someone posted today rates for north west

Over a year they would still save, but you would save more. Also standing charge increase but like 8p a day or so

Rates will still change daily but just based on new daily calculations. For example, East of England's new calculated rates are:

Electricity unit charge NEW:

(W * 1.2012) + 10.3059 p per kWh

Old:
(W * 1.19) + 6.787p per kWh

EDIT: fag packet maths btw don’t kill me if wrong

People on Octopus tracker group on Facebook have posted screenshots from Octopus customer services stating that all tracker customers will be moved to the new rates from mid January 😞

I guess we will find out soon enough, sorry to ask but is there much difference between the January 2024 and November 2022 trackers? If I've missed this apologies

Fantastic rates over the past few days 13.4p per Kwh which I think is the lowest I've had since when I started about 3 months ago.

Unfortunately though there are some reports that the new prices being allocated to new tracker customers will also become the prices we all pay from January. This is from the Facebook group.

In fairness there are also conflicting reports that says it won't happen and a response from the customer services team that says more info will be forthcoming in January.

As long as I'm getting a decent deal I'm happy enough

Yeah same, can't complain. Tracking that conversation and seems like mixed messages, I believe octopus staff has no HR function and people are split into teams of 10 multi role people so sometimes mixed messages can come out

From the gist of it, there needs to be a fixed term because the unit rate caps mean the tariff is breaking some regulatory requirement as there is no end date so it's eligible for the price cap, but because the max unit rates of 100p/30p that price cap would be problematic if it didn't the fan.

Hopefully they'll do this by allowing people to renew but I reckon we'll eventually just be told we need to transition to the new rate, which is still cheaper then price cap, just not as much. It's still 10-20% discount so still worth doing
