Great support, especially considering the dross they have to watch.

Anybody else a little disengaged yesterday?

We all know how crucial the win was yesterday, but I didn’t celebrate the goals with the customary elation. Probably a combination of the current relationship between the club and fans, as well as a realisation that, but for the sending off, we would have been well beaten. Just an odd...

7,000 Wrexham Fans at Ewood Park

Pretty impressive for a Monday night live on the Beeb. It made me think about how a club can galvanise a whole area. I’ve been to the Racecourse a couple of dozen times (good friends in N Wales, who are fans) and anything over 4,000 was a reasonable crowd. Do we have something similar...

    BBC Helps KSA with Sportswashing.

Saudi Pro League results now shown on the Beeb Sports web-site, alongside all major European and South American Leagues. What of the African Leagues, which have much greater attendances? Or other Despotic Regime Leagues’? Utterly reprehensible. We should all write to complain. I’ll go first.

Covers that you never knew were covers.

So, listening to an excellent RockBlock on Planet Rock, they played ‘When the Levee Breaks’, by Led Zep. Not only one of my favourite Zep tracks, but one of my all time faves. And it’s a cover. I never knew. Looking forward to discovering the original. Any others out there?

Oh, for the ethos of Union Berlin.

Issuing ‘mini season tickets’ for the Champions League group games at EUR25 a go. Yes, they’ve re-located to a larger ground for those games, but no attempt to fleece their fans (who also own the club). How well the German team ownership is structured. If only.

    Question for our French Correspondents.

Due to travel to rural France, not far from Angouleme. I know the region reasonably well. Away from Paris and the major cities, what is the atmosphere? Driving down via Caen, as usual. Thanks.
