Gibson attacks Houchen

I used to play with Chris McEwan at his house when we were about 9/10 - his parents were free and easy hippy types and I loved going round. Then we went to different schools. Last time I saw him must've been about '82. He was a top guy, Not surprised he's done well. Hope he smashes that Houchen character

He's 82??

Looks bloody good for his age 😳

😉

I'm a bit worried about Houchen's footwear now. We all know what Gibson can be like when he's angry. Keep a close eye on your shoes Ben. It would be awful if something bad happened to them.

No need to worry, he’s sold hi sole to the devil

Houchen says:

"“We have already secured 9,000 jobs and the deal done will return £1.3bn over next 40 years, as the independent report says, to our local communities which will support fantastic local projects."

The jobs number is just speculation. He cannot possibly know that will happen. Another number pulled out of his@rse.

£1.3 billion over 40 years = £32 million per annum.
What does he mean by "will return"? Is that return to the businesses that he believes will be on the Freeport or is it the amount that will be returned to the public via the 10% ownership of Teesworks? £32 million is tiny if it is the former and barely respectable if it is the latter.

Over the years Houchen has promised between 30 and 40 thousand jobs.

The last TVCA figures showed we were up by net 1,000, give or take a couple of dozen.

For the tax payer money spent, around £1bn, it’s a very poor return. Especially given that we have no assets to show and actually some sizeable ongoing debts. On top of that, the TVCA (Houchen) has borrowed the maximum they can for the next 30 years. Teesside is mortgaged to the hilt and spent the money on magic beans.

Ben Houchen is a con man, you can only twist and turn so much.

Absolutely meaningless horsecack. By the time he fails to deliver on the jobs, investment and returns, he's long gone and set up for life.

Just goes to show how different we are to London. Chicken feed.

Writing in The Times on Thursday, The Spectator's Katy Balls said some Conservative MPs refer to him as the "£160 million man" due to the amount of money his region has received from the Government in recent years. “If someone was to write the history books in 30 to 40 years’ time, they would describe the last six years in Teesside as being the catalyst of the transformative change brought about here," one Tory in the region told PoliticsHome. "It hasn’t seen investment like this since the Victorian era.”

Got to laugh at that.

Teesside under the Tories from the 1980s has been absolutely run into the ground, chronic underinvestment in infrastructure, schools, hospitals..... everything.

So now a £160m package is unveiled, with a ridiculous amount going straight to Musgrave and Corney risk free.....and that's a roaring success?

Yet folk on Teesside still believe Houchen is "the best thing to happen to the area" 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Deary me, the state of politics ☹️☹️
