Premier League atmosphere

I've seen people slate Arsenal's, Man City, Chelsea, Man Utds atmosphere this season, 4 of the biggest clubs in England. Why is that?

Like most teams supporters, they are inspired by what they see. However, I do feel there is that sense of expectancy from some supporters of the more successful clubs. I remember us playing Arsenal in the FA cup semi final and saying to my old man that they didn’t seem to be jubilant, he said ‘it’s because it’s Fvck all to them, they’re spoilt by success’

The big clubs stadiums are packed with tourists these days. Those people are all there on their phones and capturing the moment/atmosphere without realising that they need to be part of creating that atmosphere in the first place.

As a Boro fan I have only experienced the big club stadium when Boro have been playing. Beating us means nothing to them. I wouldn't say the Riverside is a rubbish atmosphere based solely on our last home game against Swansea because that is nothing compared to occasions like the cup game against Chelsea or the promotion game against Brighton. You hear the ex Utd pundits like Neville talking about how good the atmosphere is at Anfield and we'll probably never experience it like they do because they will never see us as a big deal.

The biggest thing to remember though is that the majority of those people slating them have probably never stepped foot inside any of them so their opinions are irrelevant.

Nothing to do with tourists, there's not that many of them, the regular supporters are the ones who aren't being excited anymore. The competition is becoming dull and it's all about their past success not being met. They're not there to be entertained now either, they're there to win at all costs, like many who follow the Boro.

Another thing, the almost non stop dirge from fans, a small section churning out a seemingly endless chant means that atmosphere from the general crowd no longer goes from silent to a build up and then a crescendo as the goal is scored. It's now like supermarket music, it's on but nobody is taking any notice and dulls the experience.

The premier league “product”, as they like to call it these days, is dull as dishwater. A few fantasy football teams fighting it out for those coveted top 4 gravy train positions.

A few yo yo teams fighting out relegation each year then coming back up in a year or two anyway, so does it really matter?

The rest are also rans kicking around mid table. Hoping for the odd big win against the big boys who have one eye on something better.

Still, Sky and TNT love it. The drama is unparalleled apparently.

A life-long Citeh fan admitted yesterday, they don't always sell out at home, with rows and rows of unoccupied seats.
Their fans don't travel in huge numbers, like the Toon, for instance: they are just a branded product owned by rich thieves made for television companies and advertisers.
Shame.
In the days of Maine road, with names like Tuart, Watson, Barnes, Power, Doyle, Bond, etc.......they were a real football club.
Whilst I heard their Manager moaning his players were tired and stressed, I wonder if the same thoughts crossed the minds of 72 other clubs, scraping to get enough revenue to pay players and keep their heads above water. Some are better placed than others. When you look at the grounds of clubs like Sheffield Utd, Wednesday and Leeds [for example], they are in a state - yet over the years they have had the money to keep them up to standard, but it's been syphoned away by agents, player wages and rogue owners. No Sky Sport or Saudi cash for them.

Agreed. (y)
But, of course, no cup replays to help out the smaller clubs with finances. The "big" brands need it to protect their tired players and bank accounts stuffed with dirty money

They've been around a long time roofie, they weren't formed when the Dubai folk took over. Perhaps like many of us who rarely bother with the Riverside any longer they've had enough of the all seater, overpriced tickets, corporate organisation of it all.

We had 10,000 empty seats for our European quarter final match.

Tourists.

I actually think Arsenal have a decent atmosphere at home, comes across well on TV at least.
I've been 6/7 times. Twice as a Boro fan and the rest in a variety of places in the Arsenal end with work including the hospitality suite. I've actually been courteousy of @Corcaigh_the_Cat years ago too (cheers again mate 😁)

The atmosphere is absolutely woeful in all areas every time I've been. It's a shame as I rate it as the best ground we have outside of Wembley. Think it's better than Spurs. The hospitality was fantastic too.

Not sure it’s only the Premier League. Home games for Boro this season have generally been pretty awful atmosphere wise. We don’t tend to have many tourists either.

When was the last time? I should’ve added it’s only really been the last couple of seasons. Think they have a drummer now, that might explain it 😂

New generation of football fans who are more interested in taking selfies for Tik Tok than singing their hearts out.

Most of them don’t even drink, how is that even possible on match days?

They even watch the game instead of the away fans which is also bizarre.

Best league in the world is the narrative but i find it dull as dishwater as well. I rarely watch a full premier league game on sky. I think the golden era for the premier league was the 90s since then through rule changes and interpretations physical contact has virtually gone from the game and its not the same.

Would agree with this.

Can count on one hand the number of times I've been impressed by our atmosphere at home this season.

Even last season when we were absolutely flying, it was poor for large periods.

This. When I lived outside of the ground I managed to get tickets for a few games, including European games and it was pretty tranquil. It was even tranquil when I was on the balcony of the flat unless there was a noisy away contingent.

The last two seasons Arsenal has been great.

Man City will win the league every year.

Quite possibly by breaking the rules.

Their fans know it, Liverpool and Arsenal fans (deep down) know it too.

So what is there to sing about?

United’s atmosphere is rubbish because their team is rubbish.
