Hull Away Advice

Sorry if I have missed a post.

Been a few years since I did Hull away. Last time I parked at the stadium (Walton Street). Looking on Hull website this seems a good viable option, but anyone been recently? Is it hard to get out? I must get to Burnley afterwards so eager to get away.

Also, any good places for food on route from Stockton to ground? Does the ground still have a pub for away fans?

If you are travelling via A19 & A 1079 you could eat at Langlands Garden Centre at Shiptonthorpe so you don't have to deviate from your route.

Nothing posh but decent quality;

Walton Street should be OK, the old bill will filter all our fans out via the bottom end of Walton Street car park to stop both sets of fans from confronting each other around the ground. Most fans will gather at the Admiral of the Humber (Spoons) or the Ebenezer Morley (opposite) on Anlaby Road.

The Mumbai Lounge next door to Langlands in Shiptonthorpe is top notch, but doesn’t open until 17:30.

Darleys pub on Boothferry Road. Always used to be good food and reasonable. Main road into Hull past the old ground

A dual carriageway was built in the 80's so you wouldn't have to go that way anymore called the Clive Sullivan Way.
Worked in Hull for many years. Clive Sullivan way was a nightmare at times, if travelling down the M62/A63 I preferred going down Boothferry Road, Darleys for a decent pint and food then straight down Boothferry Road/Anlaby Road to the ground

Its a building site now they are attempting to do what theyve done with the Riverside junction by lowering the A63 so a junction can go above it.

Last season i went the scenic way Helmsley/Malton/Wetwang/Beverley its not the quickest but its the shortest route and theres a nice chippy at Wetwang.

Coming home A1079/York ring road/A19 is a nice drive and much shorter than M62/A1/A19

This way is only any good when York ring road is quiet. Turn right out of Walton Street Car Park, then left onto Spring Bank West. At roundabout turn right and just follow signs for A1079 York/Beverley its an easy enough route out of Hull.

There's free/permit free parking on Spring Bank West (after the railway bridge) if you are prepared to walk 10-15 minutes to the ground

Abit closer you might get lucky on Chanterlands Avenue restrictions finish on this road after 6 but you get 2 hours

I go to Hull Fair every year so know these streets well!

Unless you are in a hurry and don’t care about fuel prices, I would never go the M62/A1/A168/A19 route, it puts about 40 miles on your journey (return trip). There are still major road works on the M62 at the Ouse Bridge near Howden where the speed limit is reduced to 30 mph, with variable speed cameras.
Wetwang chippy is very good as is the Scrap Box at the Dunnington lay-by on the A1079 and the Wetherby Whaler on the York ring road between the A19 and A59 junctions.
