Are you a sports fan or just a football fan ?

When I watch the golf from America (every week 😀) the commentators often refer to the people attending as ‘sports’ fans attending the golf.

I thought I was a golf and football fan but actually I think I’m an enthusiastic general ‘sports’ fan too.
I think I know what they mean.

I love the cricket, buzzing watching England in the 6 nations score that last minute drop goal yesterday.

Loved watching Katie boulder win last week in the tennis in San Diego watching 4 of her matches.
And follow Radacanu and Murray when they are playing.
Even end up sitting and watching Lewis Hamilton if he is competitive in F1 excited about watching the race start. Love watching Rocket Ronnie but oddly nobody else 🤷‍♂️

My Mrs, said to me last week, since when did you start liking rugby 🏉 ? She said the same about F1 about a year ago 🤷‍♂️.

I said, I like the big games & when ‘our’ Lewis is contending ! (Obviously defending myself with a voracious intensity !) 😀

Do you folks consider yourself Generally a sports fan ? ⚽🎾🏓🏈⚾🏸⛳🎱

Like allsorts me.
Second love is Speedway.
Cricket, Ice Hockey, used to like to watch the showjumping too when I was a kid. Athletics, summer and winter Olympics etc

The few things I wouldnt watch now, one of sadly, is F1, as its nowhere near as interesting to me as it was 30 years ago. Its a shame because in the 70s, 80s and early 90s i never missed Grand Prix on a sunday night.
NFL is not my thing, neither a rugby fan either.

Yes, NFL, baseball and ic hockey not my thing….basketball also….I should avoid moving to the USA !

I'd watch other sports at an elite level, as even when you don't understand every rule it can still be an interesting/exciting spectacle.

I've enjoyed going to a Superleague game in the past and one of the NFL games at Wembley, but there's only Boro who I feel emotionally invested in when watching/experiencing a game.

I remember noticing at university that people who had played/been given the opportunity to play a variety of sports at school had a much broader interest in sport in general.

Agree that I’m also emotionally invested in Boro with every kick but last night was punching the air when England rugby won a penalty in injury time and again when Marcus smith just settled it with that brilliant drop goal !

Ex-Rugby league season ticket holder, still go to a few games.
Watch Gaelic football when it’s on the Irish channels.

Boro (and football) first, England cricket team second. Passing interest in lots of other sports but have become very cynical about athletics/cycling etc that I used to watch intently. Have started to actively dislike boxing.

I can watch most sports at any level. I'm not too keen on the superbikes but do like watching Speedway and would love to go to an Eastern European Speedway Grand Prix.

I can’t get into any sport anywhere near as much as I do with football. I will watch the major events like rugby World Cup, Wimbledon, big boxing fights etc but I don’t get emotionally invested like I do with Boro and the England national teams.

I also struggle to get genuinely excited for an individual, some people are obsessed with boxers, tennis players, F1 drivers etc but I don’t think I could name one where I’m like, yeah that’s my hero, even when I was a kid.

Yeah. I’m just a Boro and football in general fanatic. Nothing else hits the same.

If we beat Birmingham on Tuesday could be an exciting end to the season and then we’ve got the euros to look forward to. Come on England!

I think there is a difference between watching other sports and supporting a team. I could never see myself getting excited about Yorkshire Cricket like I do about the Boro but would want them to win above any county. If they got beat or relegated, so be it. If the same happened to the Boro, I would be gutted.

My mum always watched the Olympics and the different events and I think I got my love of sports from her. My dad boxed to a decent level and that was all he was interested in when I was very young. He took an interest in football when my brother and I started playing and would sit and watch a match. He took me to Ayersome Park a few times as a child but I tended to go more with my uncles than him.

Or, totally agree, nothing grabs me emotionally like a Boro goal or win but I genuinely enjoy watching other sports or individuals like when Luke littler burst on the scene 👍

👍🏻 football, cricket, tennis, NFL
👎🏻 golf, F1, rugby of any description, horse racing
All other sports I have a fleeting interest but wouldn’t say I actively like or dislike

I enjoy the Olympics, actually. I’d rather watch table tennis than cricket. I’d watch anything other than cricket to be honest.

Football, cricket, athletics, some boxing, some tennis, table tennis, ice hockey, snooker, rugby union occasionally, same with rugby league, cycling, some winter sports, bowls.

I gave the American sports a good go whilst living there but found them mind numbingly dull. I find it amusing how they've caught on here without them being played here.

Went to speedway as a kid but found it a bit of a procession at times, F1 almost always a procession, albeit at high speed.
