F*CK VAR

I'm nervous of (re)introducing intent into the equation for any infringement. It's effectively impossible to prove as the only person who knows whether they acted deliberately is the player themselves. Otherwise you're imposing a mindset on someone, based on your own perception of an incident.
The element of intent has never been removed from the laws. The only type of offence it was removed from, was fouls involving physical contact.

The words "deliberate" or "deliberately" still appear dozens of times in the laws, so the referee still has the job of deciding whether something was deliberate in numerous situations.

Putting it back in for all handling offences (it's still there for some of them) wouldn't be too much of a stretch, if you ask me.

Its there to uphold the correct decision, it helps to stop a sport that was and still is plagued with referees who in a lot of cases are to old and unfit as well as timid homer refs as well as the corrupt back hander ones. Id love to see it in the championship.

The VAR debate goes both ways though, I'm glad it will be in place for the semis as the Chelsea player that, imho, deliberately stomped on Gordon's Achilles would have been red carded.. will, hopefully stop them getting away with diving for pens & cheating..

Yes it needs to be quicker, esp for offsides.. & football in England has implemented it badly..

Arguably Chelsea have an advantage with VAR in place for the semi.
They are used to training for it.
Prem players are schooled in how to get the best out of VAR

VAR check for every goal from a corner now to check no one is being blocked off.

So that means no more goals from corners ever

I can’t wait for the sin bins to come in too 👍
They’ve created a whole new game now, which is just as well because nobody anywhere was watching football until VAR came in. It was a dead sport with next to nobody paying attention to it. Thank God VAR saved our game….

Can you imagine celebrating like an absolute maniac in Cardiff only to have to wait about for three minutes while they ruled out Zenden’s penalty. Or the agony of watching Mike Riley trundle over to the monitor to give a penalty against Ugo for handball at the death.

They have absolutely ruined top-level football.

It’s a passion killer more than anything that I don’t like, can’t release the emotion until the goal has been checked which then isn’t the same.

I'm sure Bolton fans would have a very different opinion than you do on those situations.
