Boro fan recorded making racist gesture at Leicester

Am feeling really sorry for them and what the actions of the grown up with them might have put them through.
I'm more concerned with what long term exposure to those attitudes does to kids' development. What kind of adolescents do they become?

I nearly added 'monkey see, monkey do' but stopped myself just in time.

They should not have been dragged into this.. by grown adults who really should know better.

Not just the adults at the game either..

there's only one meaning to players taking the knee before a game, it's a statement against racism
fook me.. this board is severely lacking in perspective.

yes.. in your personal view.. your own personal perspective can only see that there is only one meaning to players taking the knee..
100% and nobody telling you otherwise will change YOUR MIND.. you are right, why wouldn't you be right, anyone who disagrees is wrong.. regardless of any so called evidence.

with a little perspective you would be able to see that unfortunaly this is not now the case. many different meanings have been attached to this anti-racist gesture. .. including but not limited to..

MARXISM
WOKENESS
ANTIFA TERRORISM
BLACK LIVES MATTER
ANTI GOVENMENT
ANTI POLICE
ETC ETC

they don't need to make sense by the way, I don't want to get into having to defend myself from some idiot who will gladly relish the chance to make me out to be racist or anti taking the knee or claiming that I SAID taking the knee is related to Marxism, Wokeness whatever.

The gesture was taken away.. it wasn't communicated properly to start off btw.. we stopped doing it and now it is something that is perceived as something we do not do, we do not believe in and nothing was put in its place to carry the same message.

When I was a kid, there seemed to be a lot of facist bollox around all football clubs. It seemed to me that there was a lot of exploitation of the hoolies and the nazi wannabes and skinheads were heavily involved. Sadly, some of those, now old men, appeared at a lot of the European away games with the same attitudes. I honestly thought it had gone away.
I can honestly say that I havent heard a single racist shout since we moved to the Riverside. I cringe to think how casual racism was when I first started going in the 80s. It was every single match when black player was playing.
Even our own Mark Burke had a nickname that was excruciatingly bad, now I look back. I could be be wrong but i am sure the nickname was actually listed in a player profile that was once in the Boro program.

Reminded me of this interview with him from a few yrs ago.
He makes some interesting points when discussing his nickname.

Some fascinating insights into the club back then.
Such a shame the way he built himself up with muscle over the summer of '89 only for Rioch to write him off as "overweight", with no access to proper analysis back then.
I also forgot how good Burke was at schoolboy level.

I enjoyed that. It led to a couple of other interesting interviews with Burgess etc.
Thanks for reposting the link, mate. (y)
