They can either do a 'Spurs' and demolish and rebuild on the same spot or a 'Real Madrid' and renovate stand by stand while still playing at the ground... I don't see them building new somewhere else.Having visited the revamped Bernabeu on Sunday night, I can see why they’re doing this, if they still want to be taken seriously as a European “giant”.
I cycle past Old Trafford several times a week, and it’s a crumbling shitwhole.
The AJ Bell stadium, just the other side of the sewage works? They would need a complete demolition and rebuild, moving the ground West and rotating it a bit. But joking aside, where would they play their home games for 2-3 seasons?
Even a reduced capacity 50k stadium......suppose there is the Etihad......
Only option really, won't go down well for red/blue sides of Manchester but imagine City would do well commercially out of it.
Looking at Google Maps, I assume that they own the car parks so it might be possible to build two or three of the stands of a new stadium before they had to demolish part of the existing ground. Perhaps they could do that? The site is limited by the railway on one side and the canal on the other side. Manchester is pretty solidly developed now so they would have to move well out of the city to find green or brown field alternative sites big enough. They can either do a 'Spurs' and demolish and rebuild on the same spot or a 'Real Madrid' and renovate stand by stand while still playing at the ground... Either way it has to happen for them to compete with the likes of Madrid, City etc... all the 'big' clubs in EU football have the new stadiums and even in this country now OT is slipping down the list of best grounds.
Where they play is the issue if they demolish. Liverpool, Evertons new ground or City seem the only options really.
I thought the reason all semis in the fa cup were at Wembley was because the fa needed the money after overspending on the home of football for the people's game ha haWould this mean that two northern teams playing each other in the cup semis wouldn't have to play in London?
It should but it probably won't.
Why?For me they're still one of if not the biggest club in the world and they should have the best stadium.
TBH I hated Spurs new stadium. Feels like they’ve just built an NFL ground where White Hart Lane used to be, and let them play “soccer” in it.They can either do a 'Spurs' and demolish and rebuild on the same spot or a 'Real Madrid' and renovate stand by stand while still playing at the ground... I don't see them building new somewhere else.

To build a 80? 85k? all seater, all singing all dancing stadium will be £1bn ++ easy.Apparently they own enough of the land around the stadium to potentially build a new stadium while keeping Old Trafford functional.
Would need to make some changes to the rail line and local access but thats probably more viable.
The money available is nowhere near enough at the moment. Radcliffe has pledged circa £280mil. Estimated costs are 5 times that amount.
