Wilder

Likely means nothing but worth posting nonetheless. Seen two sides get off the train this year at St. Pancras before a weekend game in the capital. Forest all walked off the train together, Cooper at the front. Sheffield Utd got off the train in dribs and drabs (Archer was by himself 😉) and no sign of Wilder.....

Few on here thought he was the messiah not too long ago..... op bring his biggest fan boy.
More than a few, because Wilder was fantastic for about 5 months. To say otherwise is nonsense.
The football we played was fantastic.
Some great results.
Beating Spurs, what a night - though that was maybe when he decided he was too good for us.
If you thought he was a bad manager in those first few months then you were probably a lone voice. Not sure what you could have based it on. It wasn't until 'Burnley' that the cracks started to show and the fanbase started to split.

Very accurate, so you've got to ask where the ill feeling comes from as his record for us was decent enough. He had a great run and then a poor one, same as most managers but there are a lot of fans who absolutely despise him.

I think it comes down to him giving off the appearance that he thought he was too good for us, that is pretty much unforgivable for a lot of people.

Absolutely agreed. The only thing I didn't like was his whole "plain-speaking Yorkshireman" schtick. Everyone I have ever known who claims to be just a plain-speaking, calls a spade a space kinda person is just obnoxious and rude and looking for an excuse. The rest though, until he revealed himself, was great.

He seems to have got Sheffield Utd to perk up a bit and look more organised but that might have happened under Heckingbottom.

He used to be a good manager. Until us, he had left every team in a far better position than when he found them. At some point though, his ego took over and he now feels like a toxic mess. Judging by the little I've seen of his press conferences, he's still trying to claim that he's the big man in charge, the special one, and he'll save Sheffield Utd. All the failings come from the players. I loathe that David Brent style of talking. Even if Carrick proves to be a washout for us, you know he'll always own the failures and work to promote the players. Southgate is similar as are most of the younger generation of managers.

For me after seeing him with us, Wilder represents all that's worst about the "big man" generation of managers. He's David Brent cosplaying Brian Clough, badly.

The harder Wilder fails, the happier I will be.

I think this it it really; he's clearly a talented manager, which his record demonstrates, but he's also flawed, in that he is very much about himself and generally leaves clubs with a mixed reputation, even when successful.

Essentially he lacks humility I think, he has an arrogant edge to him thats very difficult to warm to.

'where the ill feeling comes from'

Could have something to do with going for a job with Burnley when he was our manager
Could have something to do with not denying it for about 2 weeks
Could have something to do with throwing players under the bus when it didn't go well

Other than that .... what's not to like

My post wasn't defending him by the way, I agree that he is a total gimp

his worse Brent moments were going down yarm for a couple and boasting about it 🤣

As for the fanboy comments from another poster, I’ve only challenged people who were so sure ‘he had spoke to Burnley’ with zero evidence
