Pears

First time I've had anything bad to say about Pears this season tbh. Looked very shaky to me yesterday but, then, he has been out for a while, I suppose. Benefit of the doubt job. Not good to get on a young keeper's back too soon. Look what happened to Steele and Turnbull.

Both of my teams are suffering from this at the moment. Boro cannot decide which is the better of 2 mediocre keepers. Almería keeper got injured during our match on Monday. His replacement was very poor based on this first performance.

I really do not know which one I would pick for the last 2 games of the season for the Boro.

I am praying that the Almería number 1 goalkeeper (Fernando) will be fit for our final matches on Friday and Monday.

I always thought that our fans liked Turnbull and it was Jones who got the stick. And let's be honest, Turnbull did alright for himself. More medals than most!

I prefer pears and I’d giving him the number 1 next season. Without a doubt. He’s a great shot stopper and confidence will get better on crosses and commanding the box.
concentrate on putting 2 decent centre backs in front of him, big ugly ones, which I’m sure warnock will do.

I wonder if there's a chance of getting Randolph back if we stay up, he's about 20x better than what we have and he's getting zero look in at WH.

I don't think we could afford to offer him a contract anyway could we? Never mind a signing fee, signing on fee and then a contract on top 6 months later when we are desperate to reduce costs still.

Great shot stopper but a bit dodgy on crosses and doesn’t command his area well. Can’t think where he gets that from...

I was thinking more like a loan with West Ham having a recall option if Fabianski gets injured, although not quite sure if that is even allowed now.

We could probably afford his wages, I doubt he got a massive increase to be West Ham's bench warmer, just suppose he left to try and get a look in at a Prem Team, but it's not gonna happen.

If he was on big wages then I probably wouldn't bother, and would rather it spent on some creativity.

I think I would rather try and retain Roberts if we're going to have someone experienced at the helm who can coach him/ sort out his decision making.

Pears has been playing behind a shifting defence all season. He isn't going to be confident on crosses until he knows what the lads in front of him are going to be doing.
Kind of like with the new lads at fullback who got hung out to dry with Woodgates, nah don't bother tracking back policy, difficult to judge at the moment.

As Sheriff says any goalkeeper is helped by a settled defence and it’s difficult to judge this season as there have been so many changes, even Randolph was making uncharacteristic errors when he was playing earlier in the season.

I think Warnock will go for a keeper and Etheridge, who he knows well is out of contract next season so he may try and do something there or bring in someone on a free like Al Habsi.

Etheridge would be an excellent signing.

Lot sense in that, best post on here.

Agree. I think Pears will be a decent keeper, he's been given a baptism of fire this year and done ok considering his previous first team experience was at Gateshead and Darlington. We shouldn't write Bola and Browne off either, neither of whom were helped by playing in Woodgate's disorganised rabble!
