Is Andy Murray the greatest British sportsman

Oh hang on a minute he has dominated since 1995. He didn't need to make another jump.
Depends whether you view success as medals or world records I suppose.

Has Mo Farah broken a world record?

The greatest sportsperson of all time (not British) would have to be FloJo if we go off records, absolutely no question, but that somehow doesn’t feel right to me. Plus, I think she was also “assisted” to some extent. 😁

Not right because although never proven it is generally accepted by sages within athletics that her world record was chemically aided. She will never be bracketed in the "greatest" column for that reason.

I don’t think Edwards is. He only really had one great summer, he didn’t dominate the sport for years. Great jump in 1995 though. Then he came back and won Olympic gold in 2000.

Chris Hoy dominated for a long time but he was mechanically assisted I think.

Nick Matthews - squash player
So at least 2 great summers then 😂

Dominate? At any given time he was the 4th best tennis player on the planet.

Apart from when he was ranked no.1 in the world for the best part of a year.
I can think of at least 10 Men and women that would be in front of him…. And that’s without googling it

Who are they then?

Hendry
O sullivan
Phil Taylor
Mcilroy

The first three are sports that 95 percent of the world isn't interested in, even calling them sports is pushing it.
Mcllory is a good shout though.

He’s walking across the court like he’s an old man and that’s how I walk without any exertion…
It’s inspiring to watch but I think he’s met his match in this tournament and not sure he’s got another comeback in him…

I will salute sir Andrew Murray if that is so…

A great British sportsman of my time…

Can you count McIroy as British anymore when he chose to represent Ireland in the Olympics rather than GB?

Hamilton, Taylor, McCoy, Farah, Bale, Rooney, Best, Fury, O'Sullivan, Hoy are 10 from the top of my head who are more successful
