I thought Athens was stunning. Spent two days in the Archeological Museum alone, and that wasn’t enough.Athens, like a sunny Manchester with a couple of ancient ruins.
Agree that Tokyo isn’t the most accessible of cities, but there are some wonderful little sake bars (not in Roppongi and the like), that treat customers and the liquid as sacred. It helps if you’re with locals, of course…Also three of my favourite cities, though not in that order.
I also love the Isle of Man.
For me, Tokyo. Lacked the excitement of other Asian capital/mega cities and tbh I found it a bit of a sterile, concrete jungle. I was on my own for a fair bit of it, however, and I’m sure another visit might change my view.
That big red Eiffel Tower was sh1te n all.
Yeah, I wasn’t. I’m sure it might be better done differently. I’d like to think I’ll get back there one day.Agree that Tokyo isn’t the most accessible of cities, but there are some wonderful little sake bars (not in Roppongi and the like), that treat customers and the liquid as sacred. May need to start a new thread on this .
Brussels is a wonderful place and easily accessible. We especially love the Foire du Midi. I don't think I'd dare visit Marseilles again but.Los Angeles is just a nasty soulless sprawl.
Rio was a disappointment I have to say.
Honolulu and Waikiki on Oahu - 30 years ago. Been back to Hawaiian islands since but not there.
Dishonourable mentions too for Marseilles and Brussels. Both are horrible places.
Brussels is amazing. Art deco in St Gilles and some of the best bars and original beers I have ever experienced.Brussels is a wonderful place and easily accessible. We especially love the Foire du Midi. I don't think I'd dare visit Marseilles again but.
Castlerigg is a fantastic placeStonehenge.. now I get it's just tall rocks in a field, though the area around it is just: nothing... Castlerigg in Keswick - if it's stones were as tall - that would be a far more impressive location.
Indeed, Castlerigg is far more impressive as it's surrounding mountains just make it a better experience. I don't even mind the smaller stones.
Spent a lot of time in Brussels and am stunned anybody can be fond of it.Brussels is amazing. Art deco in St Gilles and some of the best bars and original beers I have ever experienced.
Wow. I’ve never been to Hawaii but I disagree with all the others on your list. Rio in particular I loved.Los Angeles is just a nasty soulless sprawl.
