That is probably the advanced talks section of the negotiation...
So someone from Brentford then?it was a dumb phrase, however what's clear is that we need someone that buys into the DoF method, someone that buys into our signing strategy. All our permanent signings since Wilder joined are under 24 or free transfers. You don't make profit when you sign players at 26+. So they need to work with younger players with big potential and draw it out of them.
Me too, although doesn't sound like any decision or announcement is close.Don't want Leo having another game in charge... i don't want him combusting...let's get carrick in the dugout for Saturday and start the carrick chapter...
Firstly, you don’t know how near or far Boro were to signing a midfielder. Would it have been better to overpay for someone for the sake of it, just so we had someone. Like Mowatt, maybe.Wilder didn’t get the money for the midfield he wanted so why will carrick get it? If we had it why didn’t we spend it in the summer and we might not be in this mess.
The club has gone backwards for 15 year now minus the one premier league season which Gibson completely threw away a fantastic opportunity from. We have sat here watching numerous clubs overtake us while we slowly got worse and now are in real danger of being relegated. Do you expect us to be happy at how things are being run?
We are no different to any other club really. We will have good times and bad, let's just try to enjoy the ride.Firstly, you don’t know how near or far Boro were to signing a midfielder. Would it have been better to overpay for someone for the sake of it, just so we had someone. Like Mowatt, maybe.
Maybe Wilder didn’t get the money because the club were being, or trying to be, a little more prudent instead of paying for Assombalonga 2.0. Would you rather they signed any old expensive sh*te in the summer or waited until the right players become available? This is where some posters massively contradict themselves IMO.
Has the club gone backwards for the past 15 years? Look at the final league positions, it really doesn’t look like it has.
Do I expect people to be happy with where we are at the moment? No. Do I expect to see the chairman, his staff, previous managers absolutely slaughtered on a daily basis in often quite unpleasant fashion? No, I don’t. I think it’s unfair and smacks of arrogance and small-mindedness. People just talk absolute sh*te, let’s just accept it. Me included. People lambasting Boro staff to this degree is just awful, to my mind. It doesn’t help anyone, it doesn’t achieve anything. It just makes those doing it look really petty and bitter.
This poring over everything from Southgate to Monk to McClaren, often rewriting history along the way in some cases. I don’t see the point of it really. Let the club find the next manager and then judge him on results. Try and enjoy it for a time. Not everything that goes wrong is the result of gross incompetence, a scandal, a deliberate attempt to p*ss off a load of supporters. Don’t be so judgmental. Look forward to the next man and let’s see what he can do.

15 years ago we were in the premier league having recently played in a European cup final and now we are in the championship relegation zone. Even 6 years ago we were in the premier league and you don’t think we have gone backwards?Firstly, you don’t know how near or far Boro were to signing a midfielder. Matt Clarke was 26.All our permanent signings since Wilder joined are under 24 or free transfers. You don't make profit when you sign players at 26+.
Bit of a redundant argument to say the championship is lower down in stature than the premier league or a European cup final. We needed to sell Tavernier and Fry.. the sale of Spence has probably allowed us to keep Dael Fry? He didn’t want to leave, Chris Wilder made it very clear he wanted rid. He also wanted Dwight Gayle which Steve Gibson pulled the plug on. CW was criticised for his poor recruitment at Sheffield btw15 years ago we were in the premier league having recently played in a European cup final and now we are in the championship relegation zone. Ultimately we had a squad and manager last season that showed signs of being able to challenge at the top, the best player was sold this summer which includes 25 million worth of player sales and our response was to sign Mowatt on loan who couldn’t even get into another championship side and get rid of Payero when we had no replacement lined up. Try to defend Gibson all you want but that’s yet another example of how badly this club is being run
Gibson has done well? How many other clubs have had a drop as significant as us over the last 15 years? Sunderland, Bolton? Would you claim they are well run?Bit of a redundant argument to say the championship is lower down in stature than the premier league or a European cup final. Can you imagine where we’d be with Fry gone and Gayle through the door? Even with the transfer fee spent on Larsen Strand.. how did we line up with Lenihan injured?
I think Gibson has done well, Wilder was a Monk in Schteves clothing

Scott Twine has played 20 minutes for Burnley.. plus who is to say he wanted to sign for us? Talks might have been further down the line with recently relegated Burnley.Gibson has done well? We only needed to sell because of the way we have mismanaged our finances but good players were available who could have been a long term replacement for Tav, Twine for example cost less than we paid for Forss
Isn’t he injured? He will be a quality player, same as Matt ORiley who was at the same club too. Hard to believe we didn’t take a chance on either of them for the price.Scott Twine has played 20 minutes for Burnley.. plus who is to say he wanted to sign for us? Would you sign for Vincent Kompany who wants you from the off.. or Chris Wilder as a second thought.
Still 20 minutes for Burnley so far.. maybe we can pick him up for £6m in January!!
I think the Mowatt signing suggests to me that we couldn't get our main targets in at the time, either we couldn't get the deal done, or that someone is coming to the end of contract next summer.Isn’t he injured? He will be a quality player, same as Matt ORiley who was at the same club too. Hard to believe we didn’t take a chance on either of them for the price.
Just an example of players being available though, instead we replaced Tav with Mowatt who is terrible and likely on big wages who will then also need replacing again next summer. Not hard to see where we go wrong
Well what you’re saying doesn’t really make sense and certainly lacks nuance. Can 15-year long decline include the two full seasons under Karanka? Surely this decline ends with his appointment and the promotion, or at least ends the first spell of this decline.15 years ago we were in the premier league having recently played in a European cup final and now we are in the championship relegation zone. 1998-99 PL 9thHas the club gone backwards for the past 15 years? Look at the final league positions, it really doesn’t look like it has.
It always seems to be a temporary fix though. The reason we had such an issue signing strikers was because we had 3 on loan last season which none of them were ever going to be long term. That’s a lot to be replacing every summer because we keep filling our squad with loans.I think the Mowatt signing suggests to me that we couldn't get our main targets in at the time, either we couldn't get the deal done, or that someone is coming to the end of contract next summer.
Either way we've gone for a temporary fix.
