Where is Gibson

Imagine spending your money on season tickets year in and year out, money at the club shop, few beers in the ground maybe and some food. Not to mention the time away from your family on match days and transport to the ground.
You celebrate the goals, and the wins absolutely make your Saturday night. High on the good vibes that your beloved Boro are doing the business.

And then we get beat and everything isn't so rosy any more. You argue with friends about team selection and tactics. Go home, get annoyed with the kids and kick the dog. Saturday night ruined.

And then imagine your mate who you haven't spoken to yet about the game questioning your passion for The Boro. Just because you've not moaned to him about the terrible game that day. The lack of passion from the players and another defeat.
Just because he hasn't heard it from you, doesn't mean you're not hurting. If my mate turned to me and said "oh well, you're not that @rsed about the Boro anymore anyway are you", I'd be livid. The investment that I put into it as a fan.

That's what people are doing with Gibson. I know he's not a vocal chairman. He does his talking with his continuous investment into his club. We're talking millions every season here by the way.
Hes changed the club structure moving away from the constant rebuilds to a more stable and sustainable model. He needs applauding for this in my opinion. To suggest his heart isn't in it anymore is laughable. Just because we don't hear from him!
Im sure he's gone home tonight, shouted at someone and kicked the dog. I'm sure he's hurting like all us fans. Of which he is one himself.

The problem with what is happening at the club isn't down to Gibson. It's other people who are and have let him down. Cut the guy some slack.

I am not questioning his commitment at all. It’s clear the club has problems, and I just think some communication goes a long way to alleviating the fans’ anxieties, and helps improve the relationship between fans and staff. I think it was Preston who recently released quite a lengthy statement about where the club was at. I’m not demanding it for me exactly, but I just think it might actually help preserve his status as a revered chairman/owner.

Hopefully he is getting someone’s signature on a contract so he starts on Monday and not wait for this Monday afternoons meeting to tell people whats going on. I am not having the players were tired. We only had 36 hours to prepare b0llocks.

You are exactly what insulates him.
It is absolutely down to Gibson. Not today's performance in particular, but a 16 year collapse on and off the pitch.
He isn't investing, he is offsetting massively increasing debt caused by the ramifications of his decisions every year.

The owners of Brentford, Fulham, Aston Villa, Everton, Bristol City have injected equity and invested. It doesn't in itself guarantee success, but our financing by horrendous debt has also brought us a club that does nothing but go backwards and which can only be run by Gibson to who the debt is owed.

Stop feeling sorry for the man who has taken us here and who now runs the risk of actually losing the money people like you think he has actually already invested.

Some of you need to be careful what you wish for. Without him we’d be dust and ashes
No, we wouldn't.
The club might go down through administration, but the person who would actually most lose is Steve Gibson.
Another owner would be attracted to take the club on and actually invest, not just increase debt.

I care far more about my club, Middlesbrough Football Club, than I do Steve Gibson, who would still be an extremely rich man.

I wasn't directing my comment to anyone specifically. It was more a general commentary on a lot of fans apparent dislike of our chairman. I think it would be great to get more communication from him. A state of the nation address if you will. But we are where we are.

I don't see the point in whinging about Gibson.

If someone came along and offered to buy the club (including its debt) maybe he'd agree to sell, maybe they'd invest more dosh and maybe we'd be more successful. Or maybe not x3.

But until someone comes along with that offer its moot anyway isn't it? Or do people want him to just pull his 10s of millions out and leave without another owner in place? Hard to imagine that route sees us signing more, and more expensive players next summer.

We got one last season tbf, he said Chelsea were a slimeball team and he hates them. What more do you want to know? 🤣😇

Boo Gibsons crap cause he spent too much money on Monks signings.
Booo Gibsons crap cause he spent too much money on Puliss signings.
Boooo Gibsons crap cause he didn't spend enough on Wilders signings.
Booooo Gibsons crap cause he sacked Southgate too early when we were in the playoffs.
Boooooo Gibsons crap cause he sacked Wilder too late after an international break.
Booooooo Gibsons crap cause he hired Woodgate with no experience.
Boooooooo Gibsons crap caused he hired Warnock and he's an old dinosaur.
Booooooooo Gibson shouldn't have bought Downing and Rhodes even though we went up.
Boooooooooo Gibson should have signed Muniz when we had the chance.
Booooooooooo Gibson shouldn't have let Bamford and Tav be sold.
Boooooooooooo Gibson shouldn't let Assombalonga and Fletcher leave on frees.

This is moving away from constant rebuilds? This is more stable?

He lurches from one disaster to the next. He puts the money in so he can make whatever decisions he likes. But I have a season ticket and have supported this team for 60 years. I’ll call a spade a spade and say his decisions have been consistently woeful and he’s dragged this club down over the last few years on the pitch, whilst propping it up off the pitch. He deserves credit for the latter and absolutely pelters for the former.

But surely investing hand over fist isn't sustainable, not to mention ffp. You've got to have success on the field to generate wealth that can be reinvested. If you're not getting that then all you are doing is pumping money in to keep afloat.

Im not so naive to think Gibson hasn't made a single mistake over the years, but the way some people speak with vitriol about him and want him out of the club genuinely astonishes me. A medium to big sized English club owned by a local fan is a very rare commodity in this country. And there is a reason he is respected and revered by so many within the game. People that have a far better understanding of the nuances of club ownership than I certainly do.
For example, I'd take Gibson and the current status of our club over what has happened up the road with the skunks any day of the week.

This is what I think also. (y) I find it hard to begrudge the mistakes because I can see the logic to all his decisions at the times he made them. Monk, Pulis, Warnock, and Wilder had all had successes elsewhere, I get why he'd take a chance on them. To me it feels like he's trying his best and it's f*cking difficult. 🤷‍♂️ What more can you do? Surely he deserves the benefit of the doubt from Boro fans.
