Daily Mail Claim about Wilder.

Hilarious in the daily mail saying there's tension between Wilder and Gibbo because Gibbo didn't want Dwight Gayle and wanted younger players through the door.

Ridiculous if that's ever the case, I sense bull**it!

And if its true if support that decision 100%, even without the benefit of hindsight.
I 100% am in total agreeance with Gibbo. Dwight Gayle is on monster wages with absolutely no sell on value, whereas If Wilder actually gives Forss a chance there's every chance he could have a wonder season down the line, bag 20 and all of a sudden increase our investment by 10x's. Look at Gyorkeres. Low Risk, potentially high reward

The funny thing is Forse is a couple of years older than Muniz has played more games and has 14 international caps and Hoppe is a couple of months older than Muniz and has a few international caps. Neither Hoppe or Forss are very young kids with no experience and not ready to be given at least a chance in the 1st team. For me it seems like Wilder would rather play one up front than play Forss or Hoppe upfront to make a point that he wanted older experienced players and I wouldn't be totally against that if we where doing well but when we are struggling, then you need to use every tool at your disposal, swallow your pride and try new thing whether that means giving some younger lads some minutes on the pitch to actually judge if they can make the step up or change a formation that isn't producing the goods.

This is from 11th July

That isn't "Gibson is on record..." though, is it. It is according to sources. The story could easily have been floated by Gayle's agent to show Championship managers still wanted their player. A 2year deal on high wages would have likely made the deal a total non starter for us.

True but I think it’s known we don’t sign players that we don’t get a return on.

I thought that when put it up but it’s hardly a secret is it.

Now edited.

I would expect that there will always be a certain amount of tension in the relationship between Manager and Owner?

The decision on Gayle looks to be good one from where I'm sitting, he's not exactly a "Goal Machine" for Stoke is he?

I would guess 80% of players we signed over the last few years haven’t brought us a return

Gayle a good few seasons ago & at this level was a very good player. However he's been out of first team action for about 3 seasons, had many muscle injuries / time out injured & had just signed a big fat contract at Newcastle..

For us he'd have been, yet another, financial dead weight, if it didn't work out. I'm glad he went elsewhere & fully expect when the cold weather & back to back games arrive his season will be, at best for him, interrupted repeatedly, with injuries..

Employing Wilder and expecting him to do something he's never done in his career is Gibbos fault.

Wilders success elsewhere has come from using a system that's hard to beat with well established senior players who know there way around the leagues. That's not a criticism of him by the way, it's been effective and you could argue things started to go astray at Sheff Utd when the higher ups started to force big money younger buys him and they couldn't play to his style.

the daily mail article doesn't have a single quote in it. i bet the story was taken from here or twitter when those stupid posts about wilder came out the other day
You think Gibson wouldn't have done something to dampen the story afterwards if it wasn't true?

Half of this board wanted to sign Gayle as well. You could see his legs had gone 2 years ago.
I'm delighted we didn't sign Gayle.
I just wish we had signed one established striker, to partner Muniz, instead of Forss and Hoppe, with the very limited funds Gibson was prepared to release.

I get Wilder being irritated at a very poor summer.
It has been neither one thing or another.
