It’s totally differentWhat's the difference between doing that with players though? And coaching staff, boardroom staff etc?

No it’s not btw we aren’t just talking about poaching managers we’re talking about negotiating approaching and paying compensation for. Which is what every other club in the would does. Inc HartlepoolIt’s totally different
What? I understand how football management compensation and moving on works, I was saying the signing of football players and poaching managers are totally different things. No it’s not btw we aren’t just talking about poaching managers we’re talking about negotiating approaching and paying compensation for. It’s madness.
Btw this ethical crusade will have no bearing on the other clubs poaching our manager.
McKenna is a good shout.I hope we go for Mckenna in the international break or Scott Parker hope we are approaching managers now as Wilders gone got me
Why? It’s significantly reducing the amount of good managers we can access. Not sure how it’s any different from signing a player who is under contract at his clubGibson has always stated that he does this out of principle - he does not think it right to poach managers under contract. Shouldn't we accept that as his motivation?
Yep I thought he might. I do wonder if he might have been a better fit with the recruitment model we're supposedly trying to implement too.I thought Daniel Farke would have been the man to come in before Wilder did. He got on well with Kieran Scott at Norwich and was out of work.
There is a distinct difference between poaching and making an formal approach through the club.Gibson has always stated that he does this out of principle - he does not think it right to poach managers under contract. Shouldn't we accept that as his motivation?
McKenna is employed. No chance.I hope we go for Mckenna in the international break or Scott Parker hope we are approaching managers now as Wilders gone got me
If we sack Wilder we will get Scott Parker. Not saying it's what I necessarily want to happen, but that's what i reckon we will do
He's doing well with a poor Mönchengladbach team at the momentYep I thought he might. I do wonder if he might have been a better fit with the recruitment model we're supposedly trying to implement too.
Wilder is quite clear he only really wants British players or players with experience of the league. I thought part of the idea of appointing Scott was to improve our scouting network and cast the net wider?
An issue with Farke and many other names is that they're not British. And Gibson is notoriously very reluctant to appoint a foreign manager.
No it’s not nonsense it’s true. This idea that Boro are the only club who try not to hire managers already in work is just nonsense. Most clubs operate like this.
Of course it’s true, the evidence is in front of your eyes. All you need to do is check how many appointments involve out-of-work managers, it’s the overwhelming majority. It saves money and can be completed quicker. If a club can avoid spending money on compensation then they will.No it’s not nonsense it’s true.
As all the examples you gave were not out of a moralistic standpoint as every one of those clubs named has appointed managers in situ in the past.
Btw you even admit this in your post try not to hire ( where is the evidence for this) whereas we know for a fact that we will NOT hire anyone currently under contract at another club.
Big difference.
Bielsa could bring his very successful director of football, Victor Orta. Gazette would love that.I wouldn't be so sure on Dyche wanting to come here. If Wilder was to go then out of that lot, for our level and considering the relative rewards to possible outlay I'd prefer Bielsa.
Erm Robson, McLaren and Karanka were all in work when we appointed them; they just weren't managers yet.Of course it’s true, the evidence is in front of your eyes. Some clubs, like Chelsea or Manchester United, have enough to hire whoever they want. Others will occasionally want someone already in position snd decide to shell out. Most will see who’s out of work and decide from there. Or possibly dig around the backrooms and youth teams of Continental clubs.
Gibson might be the only one we know of doing it from a moral standpoint, but I don’t really see the issue TBH. McClaren, Robson and Karanka weren’t in work when we appointed them. Neither were any of three managers who won promotion from this division last season when their clubs appointed them.
It isn’t the reason we concede goals or have a gaping hole in our midfield.
So he does appoint managers in work?Erm Robson, McLaren and Karanka were all in work when we appointed them; they just weren't managers yet.
The point surely is that Gibson needlessly hamstrings himself by his stance re managers under contract.
Right so if pep left tomorrow or moyes or klopp you honestly think city or West Ham or Liverpool would think well who can we appoint not currently in work???Of course it’s true, the evidence is in front of your eyes.
