This week's Telegraph report also details how Derby hijacked Boro's move for striker Martyn Waghorn in 2018, paying double the fee that Boro had agreed and offering £10,000 a week more in wages.

Having scrutinised Derby's accounts, Gibson, say the Telegraph, couldn't understand how the Rams were able to spend so lavishly on players.

The report says Gibson was again furious last summer when Derby hijacked Boro's bid to sign Brighton defender Matt Clarke. Boro were in Cornwall at the time on their pre-season trip and Clarke was expected to join up with Neil Warnock's side.

And hopefully extra money for a Tav replacement which I see as more important than bringing in another striker.

I mean Matt Clark, Ben Pearson and Emil Riis would be a pretty good plan B for Greaves, Choudhury and Larsen!

You would argue he’s more proven but could also argue Greaves has more potential. Personally I wouldn’t say there is much in it either way. Clarke just needs to find a permanent home and hopefully sounds like that could be with us. Be interesting to see how they both compare this season if Clarke signs.

We so much need a new midfielder who is more dynamic that can provide the engine that Tav has.
 
Sign him on. Need someone to replace Bola, who can play but I’d be happier using him as cover for Giles rather than our last line of defence.

More of a defender than Greaves and not as big or quick. Career championship stats:

AerialsWon: Greaves 3.6 / Clarke 4.6
Tackles: Greaves 1.6 / Clarke 1.3
Interceptions: Greaves 0.7 / Clarke 1.5
Clearances : Greaves 3.8 / Clarke 4
Dribbles: Greaves 0.3 / Clarke 0.4
Blocks : Greaves 0.6 / Clarke 0.6
Avg Passes: Greaves 46.9 / Clarke 49.9
Pass success % : Greaves 77.3 / Clarke 78.1

To be fair Clarke hands down wins the stats battle, both offensively and defensively. I'm shocked. I still think Greaves has greater potential as a ball playing CB, but Clarke right now might be slightly more polished, but then he's 4 years older.
