It's the post-Bosman reality: money that would have gone on a fee now goes to the player.
I suppose that Forest would take the view that, if they were paying a fee for him, they'd be paying £20+ million for him before they even paid him a penny.
If they stay up, they'll consider it great business.
If they go down, we'll they're not lumbered with the wages next year.
The only real risk is to Lingard if he get a serious injury, but I'll not worry too much about him on that sort of contract.
