I doubt very much we paid £40k/week for Balogun - there are supposed to be a queue of Championship clubs wanting him on loan, but only clubs with parachute payments will pay £40k/week. Balogun may have a contract for £40k/week but loaning clubs tend to pay the going rate for their division. Closer to £20k for a Championship player. It was more important for Arsenal for him to get experience than the wage.
If Forest are paying £200k/week that is a big gamble. It will be high for a one year contract. The danger is what are other players going to think who are on £20k/week.
