I think obvious choices such as 1984 and to kill a mockingbird, one flew over the cuckoos nest left a lasting impression. I really love though, Never let me go by Ishiguro

Mrs Dalloway, (Virginia Woolf). Forget Joyce, this is modernist stream of consciousness at its finest.
Go Down Moses (William Faulkner).
Love in The Time of Cholera (Gabriel Garcia Marquez).
The Black Prince (Iris Murdoch).
Just first thoughts of the books that have had a material impact on how I think.
