Ffs it’s pathetic - give it a few months an people will be moaning it’s too cold an cancelling stuff for half an inch of snow
A million to oneWhat's odds would you get on before the year 2030 we will have a reading of 50 degrees somewhere in the UK.
Anybody who doesn’t understand the huge significance of 40 degrees C in the U.K. either has their head in the sand or is a little bit, well, ignorant/naive.Ffs it’s pathetic - give it a few months an people will be moaning it’s too cold an cancelling stuff for half an inch of snow
The way the media has gone on the past few days they've made it sound like this world ending. The elderly amongst us aren't stupid.….. with beaches and accessible sea and air conditioning and everywhere geared up and acclimatised to the weather and engineered to meet the demands of the heat. And generally you wouldn’t take 80 yr olds out of the U.K. and into that heat because….
In the U.K., the 80/90 yr olds etc are already here, and not acclimatised.
We haven’t had 40 degrees heat, and aren’t likely too either - switch the tv off an give yourself a break from fear porn, you’ll be a lot happier for it I remember my mum telling me about the long hot summers they had in the 30’s and 40’s when she was a kid an complaining about the crap ones we had in the 80’s and 90’s. No one knows what temperatures we’ve had in the past here or anywhere else because temperature gauges hadn’t been invented. Climate change is normal, this country was covered in ice not that long ago (in relative terms) - nothing we do can to halt changing weather patterns, and it’s absolutely naive to think we can stop itAnybody who doesn’t understand the huge significance of 40 degrees C in the U.K. either has their head in the sand or is a little bit, well, ignorant/naive.
The temperatures in Europe this past couple of weeks and next aren’t just simply a bit of nice sunny weather.
It’s really fairly simple….Our infrastructure is not designed for this heat. Our roads, railways, buildings, hospitals, homes, working practices, even people, are not designed for this heat. The more frequent this heat becomes, the more problems we are all going to have to adapt to.
It’s so foolish to dismiss it all as just media hype.
It’s also really interesting how many people who thought covid was no big deal and vaccines weren’t required etc also think extreme weather events are also no big deal. Hmmmm.
What’s that old saying again? Ignorance is bliss…

Anyways, the weather reports are only right 50% of the time. It'll probs just **** down all week after all the fuss.
Probably already has (easily) in the sun, but I think air temps are measured in the shade. What's odds would you get on before the year 2030 we will have a reading of 50 degrees somewhere in the UK.
Probably sensible for the elderly or those that aren’t used to the heatOnly so much the extraction fans can do, it just is what it is.
The way some of the media are going on though is ridiculous. Telling people to stay at home? I don't recall seeing anything like that on a plane ticket abroad to sunnier climates.

That’s fake isn’t it? Doubt it would ever show dark red for under 30 degreesThe way the media has gone on the past few days they've made it sound like this world ending. The elderly amongst us aren't stupid.

You can’t prove it’s not normal - there is literally no way anyone can. What we do know is this is going to be used as a very big stick to beat is with though. Net zero carbon by 2030 is a pipe dream and even if it was achievable do you really think the climate would go back to “normal”, whatever normal isDude, I appreciate what you are saying but I’m afraid the real science just doesn’t back it up. The climate change we are going through is not normal, no matter how much money big oil companies and big business keep spending on trying to persuade people that it is. Some of the people you are listening to are lying to you. Some of the people you think are lying to you, or overreacting, have your best interests at heart.
Anyway, whatever, cold beer always helps so cheers
FFS. This has nothing to do with the weather and you know it!nothing we do can to halt changing weather patterns, and it’s absolutely naive to think we can stop it
What is it to do with then - the price of cheeseFFS. This has nothing to do with the weather and you know it!
Well you've really put a stop to internationally accepted research findings. Ok then let’s say we do everything they suggest - stop flying, stop driving petrol an diesel cars, stop burning any fossil fuels of any kind, net zero carbon in effect, and when we’ve done all that nothing changes - then what ?Well you've really put a stop to internationally accepted research findings. Although it has been shown beyond statistical doubt that it is not normal, in that it has been created by human activity. But it’s not about returning it to normal.
