I would doubt that any of the criminals around the area have been “locked up for years” for drug use/possession alone. It’s the opposite - fickle policy is the problem.Sadly locking up drug users for years is a huge vote winner despite millions of examples showing it just makes things worse, would expect drug laws to get even tougher under this government
Is it fickle? It seems like locking them up is always the end result. Education and rehabilitation is surely the key, criminalisation with young vulnerable people in and out of prison effectively ruining their life will only lead to a life of crime and make the problems so much worse further down the lineI would doubt that any of the criminals around the area have been “locked up for years” for drug use/possession alone. Parliament Road wants flattening. As do most of the streets surrounding it.Rob will be along shortly to tell us what a nice area it is and how the Sun have got it all wrong. Why Rob will even walk around at night it's that safe.
Or will he?
I posted on another thread about Angry people were and I thought that generally people were way angrier today than back then - I might be wrong but something is driving lawlessness
We walk the dog their regularly, mbro born and bred, how did you know who was middlesbrough born and who wasn't?Anyone visit the fair last week? Do any middlesbrough born people use Albert Park anymore?
I didnt feel like i was in Middlesbrough!
Don't you think they was plenty if fights in the pubs 80s 90s ? I think there's less now, though can be more violentI love Middlesbrough and Stockton in equal measures but both have gone to rack and ruin.
In the early 80's I would go anywhere in either town and have a good time - I would worry about my sons (in their 20s) going around the town these days.

I was in my late teens / early 20s in the 80s. It was like the wild west in the town centre most Friday and Saturday nightsDon't you think they was plenty if fights in the pubs 80s 90s ? I think there's less now, though can be more violent
I acknowledged on the other thread that it was definitely violent back then and I was probably looking back through rose tinted spex.Don't you think they was plenty if fights in the pubs 80s 90s ? I think there's less now, though can be more violent
Can you give evidence as to those locked up for possession and use alone? Drugs cause crime, they need stopping at the user level as well as the root.Is it fickle? Its no surprise that with levels of poverty and deprivation being so high in the area that this is how so many end up
We have a thread like this every so often.I love Middlesbrough and Stockton in equal measures but both have gone to rack and ruin.

Middlesbrough city everyone. Years of blind eyes and bungs have caused it.Left TS1(one of the roads off Parli road) a couple of years ago and some of the stuff I witnessed before leaving was incredible. Looked out the window one day because I heard some shouting outside, a lad went zipping past with a golf club in his hand, quickly followed by someone chasing him with a machete. Windows getting put through regularly, neighbours car tyres got slashed and not just on the sly either, they stood there and slashed them as my neighbour was watching, they didn't care at all.
When I was younger I'd walk home from town at night in that area and even then people said I was mad but I never ever felt at risk, I wouldn't dream of doing that now. The last couple of years there I wouldn't even wear my headphones when I was walking about because it felt like you needed to be aware of what was going on at all times. I think there was an article in the Gazette not long ago that said it had the 9th highest crime rate in the UK, absolutely mental.
My parents got out of there last year too thankfully, they're the last people out of all my family, mates and even parents of mates to leave the area.
I was in the park several times over the weekend - there were several hundred of us at the parkrun for starters, then several hundred more for the beacon lighting. Obviously you don't need a Middlesbrough passport to attend or enjoy the park.Anyone visit the fair last week? Do any middlesbrough born people use Albert Park anymore?
