The fact that it's the same family no matter how dysfunctional they are get it forever.
How about a elected royal family every 5 years voted by the public.

Because have you seen who we vote into government? Now you want to give the same people the chance to elect a ceremonial head.

Because democracy is a system of government through the function of elected representatives. How we get there is wrong and I don't like FPTP at all, but just because we don't like it, doesn't mean our system isn't democratic.

Good point, all religions are made up, including mine. I go to my church because of upbringing, if I lived in Japan it would be a temple. Iran a mosque.

The problem with this is that not having a vote for head of state is no guarantee of having a better solution. In fact there have undoubtedly been mad, corrupt and dangerous monarchs.
