Wilder promising big overhaul - some development on Monday

I'm not sure what people are expecting, they were never going to announce anything about players still under contract
My point exactly

He should have told fans that big changes will be happening over the next month or so, obviously he cant say who is going with been under conteact, but with saying monday it was made out, IMHO, that something unexpected was going to happen

So the big changes are what you normally expect to happen every summer and loan players go home etc .
Theyl all have a holiday now and we probably won’t hear anything until mid June regarding player transfer

You used to be a bit snippy, but only when responding to getting slagged.
Sorry, I was trying to praise you for your recent behaviour

He didn't really say that, he said there'd be surprises, but he didn't say that would be on Monday

He did say we'd see how big the overhaul would be, I suppose a few people leaving on day one is an indication that we're not faffing around?

We need to factor that some players on the list we might "want to keep", might just be so we can jack up their value if there is any interest. If you want a player out, clubs know it's rock bottom prices (especially if no other interest), if clubs know your player might be first 11, then they're going to have to pay to get him away.

Then there's other players who we know will be in demand, so if there's enough interest you can mark those up as available and hope for mass interest and a bidding war (like we may see with Spence).

I think we would take a good offer on just about any of the big names (Fry, Paddy, Tav etc), based on Wilders assumption he could get someone else in to replace, for less, who may fit the system better. A good square peg in a square hole to replace a great round peg but in the square hole, and 3m cash back might be the sort of thing we're looking at.

One thing is for sure, we're going to need every penny we can get to fix the big, big problem, which is strikers, and if that has to cost us some ability or smaller squad elsewhere then I'm ok with that, it's priority no 1, has been for years. Obviously need a new keeper too, but can't see that being too hard to get for Wilder, or costing too much.

Monday said we are not going to sign many older players and that we were not interested in any of the ones we had on loan. A couple more went than I was expecting.

Alternately, Wilder is making room for 2-3 players in the 30 year old bracket. I strongly suspect he wants to do something equivalent to what McClaren did: buy 2-3 experienced pros who are on the wrong side of their peak but who still have a good couple of seasons in them and use them to get us into the Prem. Unlike Warnock who bought his old-boys as back-ups, I'm pretty sure Wilder wants a bunch of "oven-ready" senior pros to go straight into the first team.

I've seen nothing in Wilder that implies he's interested in developing youngsters for the sake of it but he has flagged that he wants more players like McGree: young players who have had some Championship experience.

I do wonder if he has been burnt by the loan deals we've done this season. We've had 5 pretty high-profile loans and they have all failed, some of them spectacularly.

Anyway, I forsee around 3 senior-pros aged 30+, 3 McGree types and a couple of loans (maybe one being a keeper), all of them with previous Championship experience or top-end league 1. Then a bunch of projects and back-ups that he's not really interested in.
