Aaron Connolly message

I get the feeling he wants to be here and he wants to do well. There was talk of him coming in on a permo in the summer.. Wilder quashed that in a presser.

I’d like him to stay and do well for us. I’d quite like to see him as a number 10 behind Coburn..

I want us to go to 4-2-3-1! I’m not loving how exposed we are on the counter. The press isn’t working at all, our front two are either too isolated or too deep to be effective. Injuries/suspensions should have forced the issue by now. Happy to be proved wrong, I just think we need to change it up.

I've said it before, there is a player in there, but he needs coaching well. He's clearly a confidence player, and it's been pretty low and it seems he has been having troubles in his personal life which might have impacted his game. But he's hard working and that's half the battle, he isn't a get across the front type of forward, I think he likes through balls, but we don't really have players who are doing that regularly.

Hows about square holes for square heads?
Arms for arm holes?
This could be the beginning of a deep philosophical thread.......

"je pense, donc je suis"

I think, therefore thinking exists.. lets not get ahead of ourselves here.. what is this life? a frenzy, an illusion, a shadow, a delirium, a fiction. the greatest good's but little, and this life is but a dream, and dreams are only dreams and yet, in these our ghostly lives, half night, half day, half sleeping, half awake, how if our waking life, like that of sleep, be all a dream in that eternal life to which we wake not till we sleep in death? AND WHY THE F**K COULD WILDER HAVE NOT JUST ANSWERED THE F**KING QUESTION!?!?!

He needs Neil Warnock to put an arm round him..

I agree, much prefer this formation.

It can be both a possession and an attacking system with the two holding midfielders allowing the full backs to overlap etc.

It’s Sod’s law! under Pulis and Woodgate they were both forced to play 5 in the middle due to injuries and the benefitted as a result.

I think we’re seeing a similar opportunity present itself again in that injuries/suspension will force a change away from 3-5-2

It’s a bit like doing the same exercise over and over again, you become fatigued and eventually injury will occur. A change in position, a change in routine will give us that little bit extra imo

CW's whole philosophy is based on attacking wingbacks and overlapping fullbacks so I'm not too sure if CW wants to have a change so late into the season. Moreover, the players seem to be "dead on their feet", so introducing a formation might be a bridge too far right now, especially the Christmas tree formation which requires balance on both flanks which we obviously don't have. I believe that we've been duped by the fact that we did so well in the Cup, it covered up the fragility in the squad namely the midfield, and lack of such things as a DM, playmaker, and a goalscorer. When you look at our [successful] teams from the past we've had these ingredients, so I'm not hopeful of gaining promotion until we get the pieces of the puzzle in place, this first one being CW and his coaching staff. Let's not forget also that having CW as our manager is going to attract other suitors, especially as the EPL has almost a limitless supply of cash when it comes to assigning a new coach. CW is hot property, and if I was SG I'd get him to sign a new contract in the summer so at least we'll have some sort of windfall if another ambitious EPL comes calling.

Dead on our feet like you said.. something needs to change. I think we do have balance. I’d rather see our midfield play be methodical rather than our attack., because it isn’t working.

4-2-3-1 isn’t a Christmas Tree..
I don’t think we have the balance for that or the personnel.

He needs our fans to get behind him
No, he doesn't. He just needs to go back to Brighton, and foist his cosmic lack of talent, lack of football intelligence, disciplinary shortcomings, bad attitude, off field shenanigins and reluctance to learn back on them.

MFC isn't a home for disadvantaged footballers and psychological basket cases. If you play for the team you need to give everything, learn from your mistakes, and take advice.
