Oh Wilder (just) Said …

There's a lot of jumping the gun here and assumptions. I'd have liked him to put it to bed but there's not really any clear information in term of his interest or Burnley's interest. The first bit is his fault, hopefully there'll be more clear communication tomorrow.
I'd suggest post defeat isn't the best time to approach the question and perhaps that came into the way he answered.
I would've thought however he'd have thought in advance regarding what his answer might he

I think he's said basically the same thing in multiple interviews, well more than one anyway. He should understand the ambiguous nature of his answer will give rise to uncertainty.

How easy is it to just kill it? He’s went around the houses in two different pressers now!

Hello dave....

It's all shadows and dust, if you feel lost and alone then talk sport and ssn will get you there!

We are a strong club, we are not dependent on Wilder, if he goes then we move on, the structure behind the manager/head coach seems good now

He is gone, very disappointed but in all honesty I'm not sure i want him to stay now. As others have said, he could have put this to bed but if he doesn't leave then he clearly had one eye on the exit. I really don't think he will enjoy the same support anymore if he stays, it will now turn a tad toxic. what a prat he is!

Yes that bond he had has gone or severely weakened and you can bin the fkin song now as well.

I’m disgusted to be honest.

Jesus boys, calm down.
The wheels have fallen off, we've lost a must win game at home, can't score for love nor money and a journo asks a question about a job vacancy.
Just as easy to interpret his reply as a hamfisted way of telling the journo to eff off as he's not helping the situation.
Fans complain about media savvy managers, fans complain about ones who aren't so eloquent.

Totally, I was so excited for next year, regardless of the division we are in. I suspected we'd be in the championship with a great manager pushing for promotion. Now I utterly dislike our manager

Exactly. My interpretation changed from ‘uh-oh’ to ‘meh, nothing to see here’ from first reading to the second reading of his comments.
Far too many people talking like it’s inevitable he’s gone!
There is absolutely nothing to even say he’s remotely interested in going anywhere!
It may be that he’s guilty of nothing more than trying to be clever with the press. Sure, he should consider how fans interpret things but if he came out tomorrow and said ‘look, I’ve no intention of leaving and I’m fully invested in the project here’ are people really going to be thinking ‘nah, too late mate, damage is done now’?
Really? Reeeaaally?

Once I’d agree and I didn’t see anything to worry about his post match reaction on Friday.

This though is Monday almost 4 days of speculation and he still is being evasive and coy and after a performance like that we need clarity and that just isn’t there from wilder.

It’s a concern.

I think that's all that's needed, a bit of clarity. The suggestion that he's already gone I didn't really get that impression, he was too wound up by the performance for that for be the case.
On the other hand there's no way of saying there's nothing in it unless he says that, or unless Burnley unveil someone else tomorrow

I stand to be corrected if he does leave, but this really is a ridiculous post.

Sorry, don't want to fall out over this. The bloke is a prat for not squashing this, he clearly has as interest as is his right. But despite the fact I believe he is very talented and would have taken us up next year, I really don't think we can move forward with him, his head is elsewhere. If his head is this turned by Burnley then we need to move to a more stable minded manager even if theybare less talented

The man himself needs to sort the confusion out. He needs to either say he hasn’t expressed himself well and that he isn’t interested in Burnley if he says anything else he is basically finished here.

Absolutely, in all honesty he's finished here already, I want success, but not with a bloke who thinks he's better than us which he clearly does. And if the bloke is seriously considering jumping ship to Burnley then he isn't as bright as I thought he was anyway.

Let’s not go over the top, I agree it doesn’t look good but to say he’s finished here already is a bit much until we know more.

It’s a valid point you make about him losing the fans.

McClaren, despite his successes with us never recovered the fans after the Leeds/Newcastle interest.

If he does stay he needs to put the record straight and fast.

Maybe not with everyone but I certainly don't trust the guy, I think it will be split. I will always watch him clapping the fans (if he stays) and part of me will always wonder what jobs he'll be looking at when he gets home, and I think quite a few will
