It’s down to what reaction Tory MP’s get in their constituencies. It’s fairly obvious that they won’t go voluntarily. If the backbenchers get a lot of flak and think Johnson will become a liability…and the local elections go badly. All bets could be off.

The other democratic thing, of course, in the mother of Parliaments. Is the Speaker cannot recall Parliament without the government asking him too. So another week will go by without anybody facing questions.

Mr Johnson is the first serving prime minister of the UK to be sanctioned for breaking the law.

Apperently the Tories were discussing recalling Parliament to debate the possibility Russia have used chemical weapons in Ukraine.
Those discussions have now been stopped as Johnson would have to front up to being fined.
What a truly awful self serving government we have. Not a spine amongst them.

It is one of those events that one can get TOO close to - when you actually step back and look at this objectively it's absolutely staggering. You have the two most senior politicians in the country breaking the law and the general consensus (and probably outcome) is that nothing will happen as a result.
Shows the flimsy nature of our constitution as well - breaking the law should result in immediate recall.
We're essentially left waiting for the next election - can't see a vote of no confidence myself and even if one was called I highly doubt there would be enough support for it to pass. He's still the Conservatives most likely chance of getting elected again, which speaks volumes for the society for the society we find ourselves "living" in.

Lets hope he holds on because if he goes the replacement can just blame everything from the last few years on Johnson and probably get away with it at elections, only way we wont see another Tory government is if Johnson leads them into 2024, and even then its a slim chance they dont win
