Wilder has a blind spot with Connolly

Overall Connolly has been poor. The fact he has so many starts is a concern.

Does he have something written in the loan agreement or something, because he shouldn't be an automatic first choice starter.

He needs to be dropped.

Watmore & Coburn have both offered much more than Connolly in the last 6/7 games, in far fewer minutes.

If Connolly starts against Bournemouth, I'll be beginning to think Wilder has one hand tied behind his back or there's something we're not aware of.

Connolly has had more poor games than good games for us, so far, and I don't even think anyone can disagree with that.

Didn’t think he was that bad personally, hard to criticise the strikers when they had nothing at all to work with

Still think him and Balogun are our best partnership
I honest don’t think we have the right players for a front two. I loved Southgate’s ‘split strikers’ with Aliadiere and Tuncay.. but who do we have that is up there with them two?

Remember Karanka playing Stuani on the right and Bamford on the left of the three behind the striker!

I just don’t think we’ve got the mix right.. too many supporting players.

I think the bottom line is that our strikers simply are not good enough to genuinely push for promotion.

Part of me thinks that Wilder's insistence on sticking with Connolly and Balogun is him not wanting a repeat of what happened at Sheff United with Brewster and McBurnie. Both brought in for a lot of money and flattered to deceive, Brewster especially proving to be a massive flop.

FWIW, I think there is a decent player in Balogun and maybe in a different formation i.e. middle of a front three, he would be a lot more involved/prolific.

Connolly, I wouldn't want him back next season, he's had 'flashes' at times but even then they weren't very bright.

I’ve seen flashes of real genuine quality, the wheels have come off and Wilder needs to address our issues. We’ve got to do whatever it takes to get us over the line. Complete waste if we don’t make top six

Not sure about that. Genuine quality was on show midweek. I'm not suggesting we could get a Mitrovich but we definitely need better than what we have.

A new keeper and a new strikeforce and we should be a very very good team next year.
Can we not just pay for some hypnotherapy for Joe Lumley or fit him with some dog shock collars?

Connolly was good at Brighton when he started.. maybe he just went off track a bit. Still more suited to a front three imo.

Balogun is gonna be a premier league player.. he’s getting better every week.

Coburn had the potential to be a very good number nine!

Sporar is a very generous player and Watmore always looks good.

Imo our front two should be:

One of Coburn, Sporar, or if neither are available... Crooks. A player who can get on the end of a cross and actually get the ball in the net.

Alongside one of Watmore, Balogun, or if neither are available then Connolly. I.e. players that can be part of the build up and/or press.

It's no surprise to me that we don't look like scoring when we pick two from the second group and none from the first.

Completely agree with the last section. That’s why I was calling For Coburn & Balogun for the rest Of the season.

I think Coburn’s a lot more mobile than he’s given credit for too.

Aliadiere is up there on a long list of poor Strikers we have signed.

So much turd to choose from I wonder who was the worst? Lee Miller looked worse than a Northern League player (which is probably being disrespectful to the Northern League) and Kike Sola looked like a competition winner in his brief cameo.

Honourable mentions to Alves, Mido, Britt and Fletcher for the pound for pound (literally in Mido's case) biggest flops.

I give you Chris Killen also Kris Boyd was garbage here. You could go on all day.

At least we sorted out our strikers from last season.. and the season before that.

Gestede - Coburn
Britt - Connolly
Fletcher - Sporar
Akpom - Balogun

The current 4 is definitely an improvement on that shower of ***** but only marginally. Thankfully three of em are only on loan

There’s a difference between populist and a consensus.
the consensus was that Zenden was rubbish after 15 games, that Dijksteel was rubbish after a season, that Sporar was a god after 6 games.

I bow down to the eternal wisdom of Super Hans on this one. Most people are analytically lazy, like to get in early with an opinion, and stick to it doggedly, often based on a passing knowledge of the point at hand. Footballs about opinions, I think there's a player in there but it'll take a bit too long to get it out of him, we needed the finished article.
