Annoyingly difficult "easy" jobs

Changing a toilet seat!
2 simple plastic wingnuts that should just easily screw off. However, years off Pi55 can guarantee the metal screw rods are rusted in solid and you need to get a hacksaw round the back.
Add to that the stale stench you can’t get off your hands for the rest of the day.

My nomination: Changing headlight bulbs on any modern vehicle.
Mine are retained by a wire spring clip, however, actually gaining access to the clip requires the hands of a 5 year old and the strength of Garth to unclip it.
My 2nd car I owned was a fiat Punto and I had to remove the fuse box(I think it was the fuse box it was nearly 20 years ago so can't remember exact details) under the bonnet to change my headlight bulb.

I am very willing to pay someone at Halfords a tenner for this job - saves me time and the skin on my knuckles.
I'm tempted by that option myself. Only after I've tried fabricating a removal tool first though. I'm thinking a flat blade screwdriver with a notch in it.

If only it were that easy.

Most modern toilets dont even have those two wingnuts but rely on a more complex and less accessible way of securing the seat to the toilet.

For years I couldn't use a tin opener properly :ROFLMAO:

Eventually I had to watch a tutorial video on YouTube, and I'm proud to say I can now open a tin with confidence, but it took me years of hard work and perseverance to finally get there.

My son took his Vauxhall Astra to Halfords to change a front sidelamp bulb. This was after a big advertisement campaign by Halfords for free fitting.
Result, sorry we can't do Astra's, too difficult!!!!
And don't get me started on their bicycle mechanics 🤪

Update: I used the notch in a jigsaw blade to push the spring in and unclip it.

Now to find out how to access the sidelights so I can upgrade them.

I have a car one too. Just changing plugs on a flooded Rx8. What a bitch of a job. Nominally 4 screw in plugs. One was cross threaded. About 4 hours later it started raining so I have come in part way through cutting new threads.
