Popular bands you dislike

wondered who would be the first nobb to say that. Old faithful nobb wins again
Why are Beatles fans so touchy, as though to not like them is inconceivable?
I love Dylan and the Stones and when either or both of them show up on this thread, which they surely will, then so be it. I'm prepared to debate the relative merits of one artist over another but I can accept it if for instance, someone said that they don't get Dylan. In fact I'd be more surprised if that didn't happen.

Me and St don't get along but I always thought the beetles were kak to be honest.
I am another who doesn't like the Beetles. I get that it was something different in its time but them times are gone now and as BlindBoyGrunt says, why do people get so touchy if you don't like the Beetles.

I worked in Liverpool for a couple of years, the dogs abuse I used to get for daring to suggest not one of the beetles could sing.

bet you like at least one song though, it's pretty impossible to hate every song since they spanned so many genres.

It's also pretty difficult to avoid accepting the impact they had on music, from breaking down the barrier of not needing a team of song-writers and writing your own which was unheard of (other than Dylan at that time, they really broke that pattern), from smashing the US protectionism of their music industry, inventing the concept album, to popularising a number of genres acting as a gateway band to a musical journey for many, the huge effect they had on recording techniques, and that's before you get to some the songs. They were bloody limited lyrically, I'll give you that and the solo careers were hit and miss.

U2 and (later) Coldplay spring to mind, loved the first couple of Coldplay albums.

Muse, despite the odd decent song seem incredibly self-obsessed.

There's very little modern popular music I've heard but rather than reserve judgement I'll throw it all in the dislike category :)

That said, been listening to Taylor recently, mainly through her work with Big Red Machine.

Lennons melody was often just one note, McCartney had a good range though and was a great melodic lyrical writer. Harrison was a poor singer very limited vocal range, and we won't even discuss Ringo

Lennon seldom got the one note tbf.

Some of their lyrics were good.

they largely just selected lyrics that fitted the melody, there were some great lines, rather than thematic brilliance, the majority of their lyrics weren't exactly poetry. Lennon was better in his screaming upper voice than his chest voice. He didn't have good voice control, much better guitarist than he was ever credited with though

Eleanor Rigby, one of the few beetles songs I like, was, I believe stolen from a poem of the same name. I seem to remember reading it in English at school.
