I would say Virgil Van Dijk

Best defender in the world and if you put him up front he will get you lots of goals. Great leader as well.
 
Pele probably. Played midfield, striker and play maker. He could jump high to though he would have been small for a cb I suggest he would have been great.

In truth the greatest players in the world could all be the best, wherever they played, by and large.
 
I’m in the Gullit camp, was World Class and won trophies playing in several positions, could deliver set pieces and get on the end of them, contributed goals and assists whatever position he played, technically gifted and physically unstoppable, energy and quality, could influence games from any part of the field and was the living embodiment of totaalvoetball and the caliber of the clockwork orange.

Agree with this. He’s adapted his game as he’s got older too, but still one of the two best players in the world, and has been for 10 years.

I was going to say Steven Gerrard, then remembered Gullit actually played centre-half and everywhere else.

Ryan Giggs worth a shout? Was still outstanding sitting in the middle in his late 30s. If he came through now he’d either be a full back or a forward.

Dani Alves at Sevilla and early years at Barca played every position on the pitch from right back, he was unbelievable - have never seen a right back have a free role before.
 
When Orritt became the first Boro sub he replaced the injured right back Neville Chapman,he also twice came on as substitute for our Goalkeeper
