BMX Finals

Absolutely brilliant performances by both and it makes us one of the handful of nations to win Olympic gold on track, road, mountain and BMX 👍
Great advert for British cycling and it will help to maintain the interest in such an accessible pastime. Hopefully this government plan to change the priorities of cyclists and pedestrians also makes for a safer environment and encourages even more people to get some exercise and see some of the wonderful country that exists outside of our city centres.

Bethany Schriever crowd funded her own training. She is on a different level in terms of achievement to somebody like Charlotte du Jardin.

Olympic colossus.
Ridiculous comment about Charlotte Dujardin mind. What is that supposed to mean?

if you don’t understand it why label it ridiculous? Why don’t you be polite and ask him although think I think I know what he is saying clumsy though it is.

TBH it’s a wonderful performance for somebody who had no money from UK Sport and had to graft to pay for her programme. A trailblazer.

Well we'll see what his repose is then.

I jus wonder what he meant? What was the point of attacking Britains most successful female olympian? Seemed strange to me
He wasn’t was he? He was just comparing her funding to Beth‘s but you appear eager to have a go at all and sundry it seems these days. You must be an angry man.

Note to admin - I withdraw my personal comment further above. Uncalled for.

I think its clear what he's saying and it's not a dig at Charlotte and her undoubted success. Although I'm not sure her horse gets enough credit😉

It's clear they have had completely different 'paths' and levels of funding. That said it's happing in plenty of Olympic sports. Just look at rowing a fecking disaster this year and has 27mil funding allowence (well according to talksh*te).

Its a pretty straightforward comparison in terms of funding and access for all isn't it, not very difficult to work out. Tbf for Charlotte dancing horses was her only way out of the ghetto.
Ah it’s class warrior nonsense then. So sad we can’t celebrate Olympians for their achievements. So sad that chips on shoulders prevent that

Ah what’s happened here? It does appear you have been a little keen to jump on this as a “class war” issue and it really isn’t what I meant at all.

I admit after rereading my post I could have put it better but if somebody who is wanting to interpret it as such could be forgiven. What I meant to say, as mentioned by others, is the difference between an athlete who has been given £950,000 to support her and two colleagues in their Dressage Olympic training programme compared with Beth.

Beth Shriever worked part-time as a teaching assistant in a nursery at the Stephen Perse Foundation to cover some of her costs of training and travelling because UK Sport stipulated in its funding review after the 2016 Rio that only male BMX riders would be supported heading towards Tokyo 2020. It was the £950,000 v £0 disparity that I compared. I chose cdJ for the amount of money she got to assist her in her undoubted terrific achievement. I could have used the rowers as a comparison but they were poor and achieved considerably less with their funding.

Your indignation was really unnecessary .
